Sorry, I've been cycling 10,000km around Australia

in travel •  7 years ago

I haven't posted in an awfully long time and that's because I made the mistake of not logging into my Steemit account on my phone before I departed for one of the wildest adventures of my life so far.

In February, I took a flight to the other side of the planet - Australia. I was partaking in an unsupported, solo bicycle race 5500km across the country, from Perth to Sydney. This was the first time I had ever entered an event like it so I was very anxious and excited leading up to the start. Let's just say it went pretty well and for some reason I decided to keep going, tracking even further along the Aussie coastline.

I've just made it back home and will be going through the content I captured and telling the tales of all my experiences Down Unda. For now, I will leave you with this photo from Mission Beach, Queensland. I found a nice jetty and took the risk of leaning my bike up against the small wall. I managed to get a good photo and didn't end up having to go for a swim to retrieve any fallen items.

What an awesome tour! Was it 4 months? I'm resteeming this.

Was in Australia for almost 3 months. The 9000km was only 7 weeks (2 weeks sightseeing). I was riding... well, racing.

Woah. Superb. This sounds like an epic ride.

I wouldn't have dared to lean my bike against that tiny thing you call a wall :D No matter how good the photo opportunity!
