Aussie’s in the USA - Part 12 - Seattle, Washington - The City of Rock

Seattle, Washington

Seattle, Washington is a fantastic city. A little cold and apparently mostly rainy, however, the weather turned it on for us whilst we were there for our visit.

Sites of Seattle

I grew up when the music from Seattle broke through and gave rise to bands such as Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden. I couldn’t wait to go and see some of the sites that gave rise to this music.

El Corzan, previously known as the Off Ramp Cafe, was the first venue Pearl Jam played at as Mookie Blaylock, in 1990.

Kurt Cobain does not have a burial site or tombstone anywhere. This is the make shift tribute to the late Nirvana singer on a bench in the park next to the house where he committed suicide.

There are some other interesting areas within the city that are worth visiting too.

Overall, I think Seattle is a great city and well worth visiting. The liberal attitudes to the people across Washington means that Cannabis is legal and you can buy a joint or some THC infused chocolate from the local Cannabis shop, just as easily as you can go to the local liquor store and get a bottle of Jack Daniels. It is these types of attitudes that make this city laid back and relaxed, apparently it is one of the safest in the USA too.

Thanks for reading the next instalment in our trip around the USA.

I live in Seattle, and am a Photographer... Thank you for such kind words about our lovely city, Thank you for coming to check out our part of the world friends, Lovely photographs...I can tell from the soul of your words your are genuinely positive individual... because it is so wet, moist and oceanic and watery here, Seattle always has a way of reflecting everything in our emotions directly into our actions and environment... I greatly enjoyed reading your post, and even though I do live here, even reading this Iv become a little bit more inspired to get out around town more and photograph some of the places, that Ive never shoot at before, get a different angle of the city, thats yet to be seen... many of us here are very under talkative as Im sure you notice... but the rest of us are just as over talkative as every where else on the West Coast and I find the people to be much more down to Earth and friendly here, you just have to give people a chance to "feel" things out and get a sense of who you are first... like you said, it tends to rain here a lot... but ironically it hasn't rained in like 9 days. lol... Glad you enjoyed your adventure in Seattle, Take care. (ps- best months for no rain- or heat is to visit during May-June) :)
