Palm Springs Aerial Tramway

From San Diego the next stop is Las Vegas so along the way we decided to hit Palm Springs and check out the city that was made famous in the 50’s and 60’s by Hollywood’s finest as a playground for the rich and famous. As you enter Palm Springs you are greeted by the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway. Opened in 1963, it is a cable car that has two carriages that carry people from the floor of the Coachella Valley up to San Jacinto Peak. It ascends over 4000ft (1200m) and is a trip worth experiencing.

There is only 1 car o each cable. The machinery at the bottom of the hill pulls one of the cars down into the valley, which in turn, pulls a car up the mountain.

It was exhilarating as an experience as the cars would rock back and forth every time they went over one of the towers. And yes it was cold at the top! Around 13 degrees Celsius.
