Escape to Arizona - Part 3

In my previous post I focused on the assorted cacti I observed while visiting my sister in Arizona. This post will include pictures of other flora (and fauna, perhaps) I ran across in my short visit there.

According to my sister, the cypress and palm trees are not native to the area, yet they seem to thrive there.

I do hope somebody can tell me what this plant is; I think it is so pretty!

Citrus trees right in the backyard? Wow! What a novelty for a woman from the north!

The palo verde tree is easily recognized by its green branches.

These flowers smelled absolutely marvelous! I searched online for pictures that look like this, and found Feathery Cassia. I bet that's what it is. It was windy, so the picture is a little blurry.

Although my sister has seen javelina and a bobcat, the only wildlife I saw were birds. A bright red cardinal serenaded me more than once, but was camera-shy. I did manage to capture this curve-billed thrasher on 'film', with its mouth wide open in song.
