July 2, 2017; Sunday. We head out to visit Irvine Regional Park, if you haven't yet met my family! You can read a brief history of my family here Family Introduction.
So we arrived at the park which is tucked away towards the mountains. Irvine regional park is over 100 years old. And has trees such as oaks, and eucalyptus trees that have been there for hundreds of years! The park has so much space available for family gatherings. You can even reserve some spots and host large events! It was our first time visiting the park, and we were awe'd at just how many people there were, yet the park did not feel overr crowded at all. Especially since it was the weekend of July 4th.
Irvine Regional Park is where the Orange County Zoo is located. It has fishing spots, hiking trails, bbq pits, you can rent bicycles that can hold up to five people. There is also a small lake or large pond where they rent bicycle boats, and the park even has a train! Lots and lots of stuff to do here!
Throughout half of the park, there is a nice theme of early settlers.
The train ride is very informative! The conductor pointed out all the various types of trees and other hall marks of the park. He kindly pointed out a bunch of poison oak too!
Visiting the OC Zoo! Admission is only $2 ! And for the animals the have in there it is well worth it.
Bobcats! And near by were some coyotes and hogs.
Hawks and owls and parrots! I'm telling you this park is great! Very fun for the family. They also have various reptiles like snakes and lizards. Also there is a small petting zoo where you can feed and pet goats.
Bald Eagle!!
There was almost some trouble at the Zoo !! A Peacock was in the bears exhibit! Luckily nothing happened to either of them.
On the way out I spotted this little guy!
This is a full map of the park.
We walked miles through that park! And enjoyed every step of it.
After that we were all hungry, and decided to get some Ramen! One of our favorite places for ramen is...
Just look at the goodness... this was my daughters plate.
And my wife and I.
The drive back home is always a nice ride. Great view of the mountains on the 241 HWY. I stopped on the side of the freeway to quickly snap this amazing view of the mountains over looking the valley.
And that concluded our little family trip this Sunday! It was really a good time and we all enjoyed it. We plan to come back, but next time we want to bring my parents and sisters and maybe some aunts and uncles. There were a ton of family gatherings there. Literally everywhere there were families BBQ'ing and having a good time. Great vibes at Irvine Regional Park!
Hope you enjoyed the quick read! Please follow me and don't be shy to leave a comment!
