Travel With Me to New York City: The City that NEVER Sleeps

in travel •  7 years ago

For the 25th birthday of my girlfriend @morganannwood we decided to take a trip to her favorite city in the United States, New York City.

She travels to New York City fairly often for work, but rarely just for pleasure. This trip would be just for fun.

My sister, Satori, and @morganannwood have been best friends for a while and her and her boyfriend Derek would be joining us. Satori's co-worker Carolyn and her husband Beau joined us as well!

New York City is maybe the most well-known city in all of the United States as it is rich of history, both good and bad. For years, New York City has been the financial capital of the world, but thanks to blockchain technology I believe this is changing. This is a topic for another time. For now, let's travel to New York City!

We flew out of Atlanta airport and our flight was leaving at 7am, but since we arrived at the airport shortly before 6am we decided to make a pit stop at the Delta Sky Club. Derek ordered us some breakfast drinks which was composed of Tito's Vodka, orange juice, and pineapple juice!

Times Square is one of the most iconic places in the world! These advertisement screens are absolutely massive and there are people taking pictures and bringing in the excitement at all hours of night. The visual stimulation is simply stunning.

The first night we ate at an incredible Indian restaurant, which was located right in the heart of Curry Row, blocks and blocks of Indian eateries. Taj is a classic Indian lager that pairs nicely with spicy curry.

The Gramercy Park Hotel, where Satori and Derek stayed the first night took us back time many decades back. This is the first time I have ever seen a phone look like this!

I had to stop and take a picture in front of the Fox News Studios on 6th Avenue. #SelfieTime

The hotel we stayed at, Muse by Kimpton, was located just half a block from Times Square! It did not matter what time you looked out the window, there were always people walking on the streets.

One of the coolest things we did was go to the top of the Marriot Marquis, where they have a revolving restaurant and you can see the New York City skyline.

Another Times Square Selfie.

For Morgan's birthday we ate brunch at this restaurant called Spring Natural. Everyone loved what they ordered. Me, I ordered Chicken and Waffles, but this was not just any type of chicken and waffles. The chicken was breaded with a tabasco breading and the waffles were sweet potato based. Delicious would be an understatement.

The rooftop bar at the Archer Hotel was about as close to the Empire State Building that we got while in New York

When we were in New York a horse carriage through Central Park was a no-brainer.

IMG_0417.JPG

Morgan approved and had a blast on the carriage ride! Thank goodness for that purple blanket keeping her warm though!

IMG_0418.JPG

Satori, Derek, Morgan, and I loved the carriage ride through Central Park.

That is the Plaza Hotel in the background. Home Alone 2 anyone?!? As Home Alone fanatics, taking a picture at the Plaza Hotel was a MUST! KEVINNNNNNNNN!

Another selfie in Times Square. Another time catching Morgan off guard!

The Sherman Memorial was simply gorgeous that was reguilded back in 2013.

IMG_0423.JPG

One of the only pictures I got in the Financial District. While the stock market was closed, I was still trading cryptocurrencies, but the New York Stock Exchange was cool nevertheless.

IMG_0427.JPG

I did not know that Federal Hall located in the Financial District was the first capital as well as the site of George Washington's inauguration.

Love em or hate em, The Trump Building is beautiful!

IMG_0429.JPG

I'll never forget the day that I was in New York City in 2001 just a few months before 9/11 and we were sitting in a cafe at the bottom between the two buildings. We were talking about which way we thought the buildings would fall and for some reason I said they would fall straight down. Seeing One World Trade Center for the first time was breathtaking. I had chills all over my body as I took it all in.

Overall, the trip was a great success! I cannot wait to go back to New York City soon!

I will do a full post on the wax museum soon!

Looks like yall had a blast! Jealous, I've never been and always wanted to go!

Oh bro! We’ve got to go some time!! It was hella fun!

I'm so down as soon as I can afford it! lol

Looks like a splendid time. Happy birthday to your lady.

Saw the Empire from my car seat on Sunday driving down the highway!

It was a blast! There is so much to see and so much to do there it is unbelievable!

I've always said the only thing more fun than going to NYC is leaving NYC (after a few days it can be a little much). I've been to the city many times visiting friends who live in Manhattan, It truly is the city that never sleeps.

That is the truth right there!! It can be insane there! A great time but exhausting!!!

This is extremely beautiful. Thanks for bringing us a lot of good pictures of your visit to New York. Lots of love, sir. Waiting for Washington.

You’re welcome! New York was exciting and a whole new world!

Lucky you, wish I was in New York!

It probably isn’t too bad of a flight from where you are! Maybe Steem will have a meet up there one day!

The weather was perfect when we were there although it’s frigid now!

My wife also has a huge love of NYC, I'm pretty fond of the place too, some terrible laws, but can't deny the fun of the hustle and bustle!

What is/was on your docket for DC?

There was way too many horns honking though and most for no reason I thought. The bright lights, loud noises, and incredibly good smelling food carts is a thing of beauty.

My buddy’s wedding is this weekend! Today will exploration of the city! Nothing really planned?? Any tips??

Too many cars in the city. I would hate to drive there. I have seen cabbies get out after honking at each other and beat on the others cars, but there was literally no place for anyone to go to. Traffic was at a standstill. You will get places faster by walking or taking the subway....which is always another adventure in itself.

Thanks for the pictures. Brought back a lot of memories. I actually lived in New York City from 1988 to 1998 while I worked in the city and in New Jersey. One of my favorite cities also. I lived in an apartment in Gramercy Park and later lived in the Gramercy Park Hotel - the old hotel before it was renovated. Hope to get back some day. Thanks for the memories.

best trip!!

I <3 NY The city that never sleeps. You got some beautiful photos of the trip. Hope Morgan enjoyed her birthday! You tropical Floridian kids looked a bit chilly in the crisp winter air of The Big Apple.

That was one load of fun you guys had. Help me sing a birthday song to your girlfriend for me and tell her I said Happy Belated Birthday. In my country we have a city that doesn't sleep and it is called "LAGOS".

I played one for her on her birthday! She got a kick out of it!
