The town of Hallstatt is a village in the salzkammergut district of upper Austria.
Located on the shores of lake hallstatt, 511 meters above sea level, with 923 inhabitants in December 2005.
As of 2015, there were 1,221 residents. Hallstadt's "Hall" may have come from the "salt" of the ancient kahunt language.
Named after the salt mines near the village, the area has historically been rich in salt.
Hence it is called "the most beautiful town in the world" or "the oldest salt capital in the world".
Over 3,000 meters above sea level, the mountains and crystal clear lakes have turned the place into a paradise on earth. Live in the courtyard hotel near the lake, push the window to see the lake, overlooking the lake from the smoke, as if to the fairyland.
INdeed a very beautiful place! I am now living in Austria and visited 'Hall' a few weeks ago. The beauty of this medieval town is next level. I highly recommend it to all travellers.
