Mother of Beauty-Li River, Guilin, China

Travelling by motorbike to Guilin and across the wider Guanxi Province is one of my favorite travel memories! All the photos of bamboo rafts floating down the Li River looks so serene but they conveniently avoid showing the masses of local tourists on similar boats shooting each other with water pistols ;)
You can fly to Guilin from various other airports in mainland China and Asia (Singapore, Seoul, Bangkok, KL etc.), its one of the most popular tourist destinations in China. You can also reach the city by train or bus from various major cities in China. From Guilin you can do a day trip to the Li river to do the bamboo rafting, any hotel in the city can easily organize a trip for you.
