A short journey through Astrakhan

The city of Astrakhan or the "Fishermen's Capital" - this is how Astrakhan today is called.

"Petrovsky" fountain, surrounded by a balustrade of small fountains, which have quite impressive dimensions. It is divided into several levels, and during the presentation from each level the powerful jets of water rise alternately upwards. You can see such original "dances" almost every hour on the embankment of Astrakhan.

And this is the museum "The House of merchant Tetyushinov." Miraculously survived in the Lower Volga region, and today is the only example of wooden architecture of the late XIX century.

This two-story carved tower, was built in 1872 by the merchant of the first guild, Grigory Tetyushinov.

But now about the camels.
A camel is a visiting card of the Astrakhan region. The Astrakhan region today is the leading region of Russia, where the largest number of camels, the Bactrian of the Kalmyk breed, is bred. About the camels beautiful legends are created.

According to one of them, Allah, having made a man out of clay, divided the remainder of his mother into two halves: from one he created a date palm, a sister of man, and from the other a camel, a brother of man. Without a palm tree and a camel, a person could hardly survive in the desert.
