The City of My Childhood - Vladikavkaz

in travel •  8 years ago

I want to show my childhood city a little - Vladikavkaz.

The city was founded near the Ossetian village of Dzaudzhikau in 1784 by the decree of the Russian Empress Catherine II as an outpost on the border with Transcaucasia.

From the decree of the empress: "At the foot of the mountains I command to establish the city, in the place designated by sight, under the name of Vladikavkaz"

So today's modern Vladikavkaz looks like. This is the embankment of the Terek River, and a monument to General of the Army Issa Pliev.

And this is the view of the mayor's office on the background of the majestic Caucasian Mountains.

There are many churches and churches in Vladikavkaz, but there is also the famous Sunni mosque.

And this is the new church of St. George, who is the patron of the Ossetian people.

Sculptural composition of the presentation of credentials to Catherine II on the entry of Ossetia into the Russian Empire.

And these handsome men are snow leopards, which are a symbol on the coat of arms of Ossetia.

Who else was not in Vladikavkaz - always come, Ossetians are very hospitable people ...
