Dolmen Museum in Wha Sun

in travel •  6 years ago

After looking around’ the temple ‘Baek Ryeon Sa, I headed for the Dolmen museum in Wha Sun.
Wha Sun is famous for Dolmen.
There are several famous place for Dolmen in Korea, for example Gangwha island, Go Chang, Wha Sum . . .
Korea is unique place for Dolmen.
Strangely enough, Dolmens were centered around Korea and Manchuria.
Especially dolmens were tensely located in Southwestern area of Korean peninsular.

I already visited Go Chang Dolmen area and had posted relating to Dolmen in Go Chang.

Wha Sun was not far from Go Chang area.
But in my view, the appearances of Dolmen of Both area seemed little bit different each other.

The place where I got to arrive at was Museum in Wha Sun.

There, opened dolmens were exhibited in the museum.
It is said that Dolmen was a grave in the bronze age.
It meant that the bronze age culture was flourished in this area.

When I got there, the cover stones were standing on the ground of the museum

Inside of dolmens were very well preserved under the thick glass.
All of those places were graves

@slowwalker,
A grave museum, I have seen this as first time and didn't hear that word either! New experience and it's a symbol of how ancestors did those rituals in past times!

Cheers~

In Sardinia , where i live, dolmen, menhirs, giant tombs, are extraordinary testimonies of an ancient megalithic culture, and characterize the island landscape....

The Dolmen Museum seems really rich, I was beginning to imagine how long the stones have lasted and to begin to imagine that it was once a tomb/grave is definitely amazing, definitely splendid photography here, this awesome visiting so many places.

In truth, the memorial places of the past remind us of our position and ethnicity. Thank you for sharing a beautiful place in front of us. Although today I have shared some pictures of a cemetery in World War II.

Wow. Now that is one heck of a cemetery! Not sure if you noticed I've done a handful of "places of interests" post on cemeteries from places I've traveled. But this is really unique.

Thanks for sharing!

You were lucky to have such nice weather for your trip with sunshine and blue sky. Also that was really interesting to see Dolmen museum from inside. The archeologists have done such a great job, it is important to preserve the history and let the future generation know the history .

I wonder if the stones were found right in the area or were they moved a distance to be used...

Congratulations @slowwalker!
