Geuk Rak Jeon Hall and Pagod in Yin Gak Sa TemplesteemCreated with Sketch.

in travel •  6 years ago

The first thing you can see as entering into the temple was Geuk Rak Jeon hall and the pagoda in front of it.
This scenery made people lonely. There was nothing particular around Geuk Rak Jeon hall. Only the pagoda was keeping its location in front of the hall.

Even though this temple was the birth place of Korean national history, the circumstance looked desolate.
In my guess, this temple had been destroyed several times through the flow of the history.
I noticed the existence of Yin Gak Sa in some book written in Korean War.
At that time, this temple was described as a large one.
Maybe other buildings except Geuk Rak Jeon must’ve been destroyed after the Korean War.

Geuk Rak Jeon seemed rebuilt after the Japanese Invasion during 1592-1597.
I could see the corner stones which seemed to be made during the Shilla dynasty.
And other corner stones were typical style of the late Choson dynasty.
This coexistence of the corner stones made me think about the meaning of history and our lives.

The pagoda in front of the hall looked like to be made during Goryeo dynasty.
Unlike other cases, this pagoda could preserve its head parts relatively completely.

It was 3 story pagoda, which meant that this pagoda might’ve be made during early Goryeo dynasty.

It was a ruined small temple though, it contained whole Korean historical elements.

@slowwalker,

Realy it wonderful photography and temple.lovely traveling I wish you happiness forever.

A beautiful photo essay, @slowwalker.

You mention two key emotions - loneliness and a sense of abandonment.

I think if we see the remnants of past civilization those are the two emotions we experience.

No matter how well preserved historical sites may be they are often devoid of the very life that gave their existence purpose and meaning.

I think it's important to preserve ancient archeology but it's also important to find a way of relating to the culture and times of people who lived before us and learn from their experience.

I commend you for trying to place these buildings in a historical context.

A good post today, my friend.

Very beautiful post

The view behind the temple is very beautiful. Green and mountainous colors that look so beautiful make anyone feel at ease when they are there. Apart from the solitude of the pagoda in the temple I saw it as a liaison between towering temples and mountains. A sign that all nature is well connected with the temple.
Your camera shot is capable of producing very good images and then posting to steemit. Adequate explanations make us know more than ever before so that we, who are far from Korea, can enjoy the beauty
thank you @slowwalker
Thank you steemit Warm regard from Indonesia

So much history about Korea, the pagoda in front of the Geuk Rak Jeon hall seems really rigid and strong to have been built a long time, yet it simply connotes so much beauty, wow this is totally amazing, awesome shots

@slowwalker, After the looked Geuk Rak Jeon Hall had been destroyed coz land seems lonely. There are most oldest history behind temple's story. Some of stone pagodas build up there. Attractive door and windows designs see very close photos. Perfect explain and awesome captures you posted there.

The temple and the Pagoda looks historic and its setting among the mountains makes it really attractive @slowwalker

It looks like a very lonely temple, but beautiful nonetheless. That terrain actually looks like it could be in a lot of places here in the United States. I would really love to visit Korea someday. Thanks for sharing all of these wonderful images with the community!

I find it fascinating that history constantly tells us and proves that nothing escapes the ravages of time and change. Thank you for making me think...
