One of the most amazing moment in tour is having delicious local food, especially in my case.
We tried to discuss what to eat in dinner and concluded to have hairtail fish.
It is not easy to have a fresh hairtail fish on the land, because the hairtail fish die as soon as being caught.
And there are not so many hairtail fish around Korean sea due to the change of climate.
When we were kid, the hairtail fish was one of the main source of protein.
But now, fresh hairtail fish is regarded as the expensive fish.
And as you experienced, we missed the food what we ate in childhood. Mom also agreed with us.
As soon as we got to the restaurant, we ordered the grilled hairtail fish.
A waiter told us it took 20 minutes for preparing food.
They served the side dish first, but the side dish was excellent.
They prepared for the hairtail fish sashimi and the sea vegetables.
We can taste the hairtail fish sashimi only in Jeju island for its freshness.
While tasting sashimi, the grilled hairtail fish was served.
About 2 feet long size of the hairtail fish was set on the table.
The waiter removed the fine bones on the table to eat comfortably.
The taste ?
It was excellent. But I couldn’t feel the same taste as much as when I ate it in my childhood.
Why do I feel the taste in my childhood was much more delicious than today’s ?
The cooking style, ingredients and many other factors may be the responsible for the taste difference.

when i was a kid I always thought my grandpa lost his marbles when he told stories that when he was a kid the Forrest was thicker and greener and that they came back from walks with baskets full of porccini mushrooms and such-now that i am older myself I realize his stories were all true since i also find less mushrooms and feel colors were more vivid when i was a child in nature-where i definitely have proof for myself being a trained chef (also for the last 25 years exclusively trading the markets so not cooking professionally anymore)is in very specific items like tomatoes and cucumbers for example-it is very hard now to find a good tomato-they all look like tomatoes but it is a truly awe inspiring event when i find one that has intense tomato essence taste-so things do change when it comes to such things-I actually wrote a book that can be found for free download here: https://www.allthereisislove.net/freebook about principles like these in case you are curious-and no this is not an effort to get you upvote me or in any other ways solicit you-its just a free book and my intentions are genuine-am sure you must be aporached often with less honorable intentions-as much as i love steemit this seems to be a downfall at times since greed is still a strong motivating force for many-wish you a delightful weekend and thank you very much for your inspiring posts-they are a true delight

An interesting post, @slowwalker, concerning childhood reminiscences.
The great British poet, Wordsworth, believed childhood perceptions were more pure than adult experience.
I constantly go back and compare and I agree - the tastes of our childhood were much more dramatic - our sensations clearer and more defined.
I recall eating halibut fish as a child - it too was relatively inexpensive then, but now it's very expensive and almost a delicacy here, in Toronto.
Does it taste the same? By no means - it has a distinctly fishy taste, not at all like the halibut of my childhood.
But there's another consideration - we are polluting our oceans - perhaps that is a factor.

It is the same thing with me. As a child everything was more beautiful. I always thought that this is normal but now I honestly think that we can see life and enjoy life like in our childhood. We just should have the same peace of mind like when we were young. And this is possible. We are thinking too much about everything. Anyway since I am 30 I notice that my peace of mind is slowly comming back and that is a beautiful feeling. So I think in a few years the hairtail fish will taste more like when you were young. You just need your time to find yourself. Peace bro
