Nam Han San Seong Fortress near Seoul Metropolitan City

in travel •  6 years ago

Nam Han San Seong Fortress is located on the southern area from Seoul metropolitan.

The walls were constructed along the ridges of the mountain.
While my colleagues were photographing wild flowers, I looked around the fortress. The Nam Han San Seng fortress was a stage of the war with Qing dynasty. The King of Qing dynasty attacked Choson dynasty to remove the backward threat before conquering Ming dynasty.

Interesting thing was the founder of Choson dynasty, Lee Seong Gyeo, had had a close relationship with Manchurians. In the process of building Choson dynasty, many Manchurian generals had participated in building dynasty.

In 1636-1637 AD, the Royal family and the government moved to the Nam Han San Seong fortress to fight against the Qing dynasty. But due to the short of the foods, Choson dynasty surrendered.

There are many buildings relating to the War with Qing dynasty. But I could not go to see those facilities because of my colleagues. So I photographed near the area where they took photos of wild flowers.

I'd like to visit this fortress once more alone to look around more in detail.

This place is looking adorable and quite.

I like the way it was built, high on the mountaintop, as so many fortresses are for greater visibility of their enemies. It surely makes defending it easier, doesn't it?

They have made it a World Heritage site in 2014. What I remember is the incredible wall and how it was built into the mountains, using the terrain to its advantage. The seemed to keep it in good condition for the age. It was a very important fortress and did remind me of the Great Wall because of how it was constructed.

A great picture of the Gate. Which one was that?

I hope you get back to see more of it. It was an incredible place and when looking at their history, they certainly were invaded very many times.

This constantly updated through the years and is reflected in the construction. A wonderful post! Thank you!

@slowwalker, Actually Nam Han San Seong Fortress was powerful and preserve location for old wars. Most longest history hidden behind these fortress. Seemed much stronger wall and gate. The pond and trees very impressive scene. Absolutely I haven't tell any word. I fully attracted the fortress inside beauty.

That is really beautiful place, looks strong and well protected. That little pond with pine trees is beautiful idea. The trees are already quite high, as well as the trees along it. You definitely have to come back for more detailed viewing :)
