It looked like humble building at first look, but this building seemed to have a great beauty and history.
Mu Wi Sa temple would’ve been more than 1300 years old. Interest thing was there was no record that this temple had been fired during the wars through a long history.
If this temple did not suffer the catastrophe, then Geuk Lak Bo Jeon Hall would be the oldest wooden building in Korea.
Geuk Lak Bo Jeon Hall was serving for Amitabha Buddha in Buddhist paradise. I could not enter into the inside of the hall, because some kinds of family ceremony was undergoing in the hall.
I could not disturb their ceremony.
At first I looked around outside of the hall. The drainage system around the hall was similar to that of Su Deok Sa case which was believed to be built in Goryeo dynasty.
And the foundation stone structures were as same as that of Su Deok Sa Dae Wung Jeon.
The bottom of Geuk Lak Bo Jeon was covered with the tiles which symbolized the ground of Buddhist paradise.
The Buddhist paradise ground was believed to paved with the bleu Jade.
@slowwalker,
Seriously I am little bit surprised by hearing 1300+ years old wooden building (a hall) still survived to see the beauty and knowledge of architect of Ancient Korean Civilizations! I wish one day you could show us the inside of that hall! little bit curious to see the inside of this ancient building and thank you very much for sharing such great travel experience with us!
Cheers~

@slowwalker, Geuk Lak Bo Jeon Hall in Mu Wi Sa Temple seemed very oldest and impressive looks. You said it had over 1300 behind story in this temple. Omg...It was so longest history indeed. Here's foundations and other temple created style great and nice architectural techniques used.
If it was yes, I'm lucky steemian to see oldest wooden building in Korea. Nice captures selection.

Hey there Mr. Walker! Another Gem of a place to visit in South Korea. Every time I see your post I want to go back. But it's too cold this time of year. Just bought tickets to Bali and will be there for a couple months. Have you ever been to Bali?
Awesome Island and they have a very cool culture with all sorts of temples like you show in your blog, but obviously done in there way.
Have a great day! -Dan

You are right when I saw first picture I thought that this is looking quite poor, but my hubby said that if I consider the age of the temple and this condition then it is really wonder that it still exist. It is nice that people still using it for their ceremony that it is not abandoned like some of the buildings. The foundation is based on strong stones that is another reason that the building still there and not destroyed with weather and rain.

The journey of history which is often colored by war, leaving a bad trail in human civilization. We can see that it will be better if the cultural results including the temple are well maintained without any war fire events. Of course it will be very magnificent and become a record of the glory of the past to the present. Fortunately, there are still exceptions together to preserve it, and thank you for there is no firing during the wars.
Thank you @slowwalker to share this post.
