The Scenery of Byeokgol-Jae Reservoir in Kimjae City, Korea.

in travel •  6 years ago

There was an observatory near Byeokgol-jae. I could look around the scenery near Byeokgol-jae reservoir.
Korea is a country of the mountains. You can see the mountains everywhere in Korea.

But this area is the only place you cannot see the mountains. And it is the only place you can see the horizon on the earth. That’s the reason why they built the observatory here.

When stepping up the observatory, I could see the dragons. Some one told me there was a legend that two dragons had lived in this reservoir. In ancient Korean agricultural society, the dragons were God of the rain.
So ancient people prayed the dragons for the rain.
They made two dragons statues near the reservoir for the memory of the old legend.

There was some interesting patterns on the rice field. That was impressive. May be they tried to show the travelers the impressive scenes.

On the front ground of the observatory, some plants were displayed. They were so lovely.
I’d like show fellow steemians those lovely plants.

Legend and technology together on the landscape. Very interesting

Yes, it was very nice

Just amazing @slowwalker those dragons were made and the rice field natural mural had been crafted for the visitors to see. In my religion the Dragon is a symbol of Satan which made me surprised when people pray for it for the rain.

Yes different culture, different meaning.
we need to accept those differences

@slowwalker,
I think two dragons built this area to do cultivation! To remind the legend it's a great thought to built living size monuments of two dragons! It's amazing and so wonderful!
Great photography and a great travel to the observatory near Byeokgol-jae!

Cheers~

Thank you so much

@slowwalker, Absolutely your successful day to you and your fellow steemians. Around the scenery of the Byeokgol-jae reservoir so adorable and flat looks seems. Yep there are no more mountains.

it is the only place you can see the horizon on the earth.

Yep...tremendous horizon viewing there. Big free space area. Those both dragons reminded me your past blog, and there told you dragon mean to gods of rain. As Koreans culture, this place had enough rain for cultivate rice and another grow fields.

I wish to visit Korea and see my grandparents in the Gwangju area sometime in the near future. There is something about the countryside atmosphere in Korea that calms me and it can't be replicated elsewhere.

Wow that great pictures! The patterns drawn in the fields thought they were image effects as I see they are real lol thank you for sharing these photos with us

The succulent plants are always a favorite of mine because they take so little care and they do well.

The Dragons World pretty cool sight. I guess I didn't realize that there was a place in Korea that there were no mountains present.

A perfect day for observing

용 조각상 제대론데요? 논에다가 낙서는 어떻게 했을까요? 합성같이 믿겨지지 않습니다.ㅎㅎ 아래 다육이는 무더위 속에도 무럭무럭 잘 자라고 있군요.

What an interesting pattern on the rice paddies 👍, thanks for sharing the pic

It is kind of strange seeing the whole horizon without one mountain in site. Living in Daegu for the past four years I'm used to seeing mountains EVERYWHERE I go. I need to take a trip to Gimjae again.
