Various Dolmens in Wha Sun Area

in travel •  6 years ago

It looked like same at first glance, but as looking carefully, all dolmens were different each other.
The most famous dolmen in Wha Sun area was a big stone.

At first, people didn’t notice that stone was a dolmen.
So they carved letters indicating the name of family graveyard on the stone.

They’d though it as a just big stone by the road.
According to the explanation by the guide in the museum, the seven stars of the Big Dipper were carved on the top of the stone. It was sorry that I could not see the Big Dipper on it. It was too large and tall to look at the top of the stone for me, moreover there was no hills to look down the stars on it.

Anyway the Big Dippers were so meaningful, that the seven stars were believed to be connected with Korean primitive religion. The Big Dipper was the place where dead souls took a rest.

There were various types of dolmens there.

Interestingly a dolmen stood near the grave made in recent time on the Ridgeline of the hill.

Wow the first dolmen to me seems like a mountain with a secret door, I didn't realise that was obviously a carving with names, it's really am amazing scenario with all the other dolmen, and you did justice with your camera capturing all of them it's amazing.

Yes! These are exactly what I was talking about! The dolman with the inscriptions! The first one is very significant, isn't it?

I am not sure I have ever seen one so large.

These stones are so beautiful! Marking the stars above.
I wonder if a long selfie stick with camera would see
the markings on top of the boulder? :-)

First Thing I thought when I saw the Thumbnail for this Post was @slowwalker is Writing about Elephants and then of course I clicked on and no elephants. I am OK with that because this is another marvelous piece of Korean Society.............

the beautiful various dolmens sir.
wonderful history @slowwalker

That is interesting selection of different shapes and sizes of dolmen. You are right the most interesting is that huge size stone and due to that carving on it it makes even more interesting. You you see from a distance it may give an impression of a window or even a door in a stone. Like that nature around and ever green trees, might be nice pine essential oil scent in the air :)

WOW absolutely stunning!!! Resteemed!!

Hello Slowwalker,
Wow - awesome dolmens - very beautiful and extremely interesting! I used to live in the Presell mountains of Wales where we have many dolmen or cromlechs as they are known locally in Welsh! Utterly fascinating... and we really know so little about these incredible ancient structures! Clearly the makers were extremely advanced scientifically and spiritually.

Upvoted and resteemed :D

Thanks for post and I am a new follower!! Love the pics!

mysterious dolmens..
Only they know the truth. We can only guess what history they hide..
There is much information now that can turn the official history upside down, it shows many proofs that in fact our history (the official one) was written not so long ago and especially for us, modern people. It has to create the definite story with definite events and characters for us, but it has nothing to do with what really happened in the past.

Do you support this idea? Have you watched any movies about it?
It would be nice to know your opinion!
Thank you in advance!

With the megalithic culture we know that people develop their trust in the spirits of their ancestors to protect their lives. To maintain communication with the spirits of their ancestors, they offer offerings in honor. The offerings table that we know with this menu is where the ancestors put offerings to do something later
Thank you @lowwalker for your hard effort, so we can enjoy the beauty of dolphins from your post.
Warm regard from Indonesia

Nice thing you shared today great to learn about and know about it

This is a very unique culture, placing large stones as a sign grave, usually we only put stones size of a ball. I think there must be big philosophies. This is the diversity of world culture, hopefully with this we are able to understand each other.

Maybe taking from the top rock make it clear, but as you said this so big and very tall. have you planned using a drone camera sir @slowwalker ?
