Meeting with @makinstuff in Alabama and enjoying the snow

in travel •  5 years ago  (edited)

We finally got together, @ryulincoln and I drove to @makinstuff's property and spent a few days camping on his land. In the picture below, on the left is me @solominer, center is @ryulincoln and to the right is @makinstuff. His survival trailer is behind us, such a cool project. Great work!

We were posing in front of his survival trailer, it has many solar panels on it and is able to power a substantial amount of devices.

We got more than we planned when we got a light snow over night during the last day we were visiting @makinstuff I left him a note on his car.. hah "Steem: Solo was here"

IMG9906.jpg

Maybe an inch or so of snow is all we got, though quite rare to get any in Alabama. So it was a awesome sight to see some in The South.

IMG9907.jpg

The ground was frozen and had a nice crunchy sound we I moved my boots across it.

IMG9910.jpeg

The Pines growing on his property had a dusting of snow, giving them a very Christmas like look to them. Though we were still weeks away from the date.

IMG9903.jpg

Packing up on the last day, had to get the snow off and then any water build up from the melted snow out of the tents.

IMG9917.jpg

One of the trees had the morning sun being cast on it. The snow was slowly melting from it giving it a drippy look to it.

IMG9919.jpg

With the rising sun most of the snow melted within two or three hours. But it was a nice treat while it lasted.

One day we plan on helping @makinstuff build his awning by his trailer. The rainy wet and then freezing weather conspired against us this time. But at least we got the tarp over his camper which was leaking when the rain was going on for hours at a time.

One more note left for @makinstuff Its a Minnow Support Project joke so he'll get it being a part of the project.. Blame Shane. I should have left some Ned jokes but oh well. I guess ill have to wait till the next snow day in Alabama. Might be awhile...

That looks fun!
(accept for the snow and camping part... I'm a princess.)

I wanna visit people!

Innervoice: All in good time, little one. All in good time.

Fine. For now, I wait and live vicariously through others.😍

@carrieallen it was alot of fun meeting and talking with @makinstuff in person. But yeah the weather was kinda rough during the time we were there. Hah.. hes a about four hours from me. I think it would take a day or two to get to ya'll by truck but I'd love to visit for a few days at some point. Maybe a train ride to Colorado would be more realistic for me.

Actually, yes. People use the train a LOT here. But... everything is still about 3 hours from us (even the train station). It's totally doable as far as pricing though.

I've still never taken the train. Our families do to travel from Colorado to Kansas (normally a 13 hour drive). I think I like having the freedom of a car... with all my stuff... and no other stinky people. 🤣
Not saying train people are stinky, I have nothing to base that on... just sayin'.

I have this hoping feeling that 2020 is gonna be awesome. And there will be many meetups in our futures.

Lol! Blame Shane for sure. That was a test for sure. Wish it was better weather but it was a definite memory. It was in the word of Steven Rinella it was "Expensive Fun" lots of projects planned for the future. You and @ryulincoln are welcome anytime my friend.

@makinstuff haha! Yeah it was rough but I couldn't have been with better people being you and @ryulincoln. Hah yeah we put our camping tools to use. Glad my little propane stove kicked ass.

Thanks so much man, when I own some land I hope you can come visit me one day.
