Medieval Transylvania has gone through hardly imagined moments where over 200 Orthodox monasteries have fallen prey to the anger of those who wanted to see Orthodoxy perish oin these lands. The Divine Pronunciation made these monasteries revive. Such a monastic settlement is located at Turnu Rosu, about 30 km from Sibiu in Romania.
The first documentary attestation of the monastery dates back to 1601, when it appeared on a piece of wood and on a brick from the old monastery. There is kept a dyptich in the monastery mentioning the first monks living in the monastery, with the name of seven survivors, and this dyptich is still read in the holy service at todays times.
In 1761, the plague that swept over Transylvania through the campaign of Emperor Maria Theresa for the destruction of the Orthodox monasteries, an action put into practice by the general Bucow, passed over the Turnu Rosu settlement.
Documents show that only the books of the monastery and a bell were saved and taken to the village
