Hi everyone,
I apologize reposting this against a better target audience, but while I'm experimenting and deep testing Steemit as a brand-new user who's a target to scale, I really enjoy side-business storytelling and I would love to share it the best way. Thanks for your patience, enjoy your reading.
Since it's a weekend, I've decided to go with something less complicated than Blockchain ideas and considerations and reserve this topic for the near future.
That said, let's go deep into this travel story, cause I think would be interesting sharing with all of you the way Val (my girlfriend) and I worked out our vacation style during the years traveling around (we are both of Italian origins, but we met in Florida 10 years ago).
Let's say we can tear apart this in 3 main rules we follow.
Rule One: never buy a travel package or a coupon (like the All Inclusive with bracelets).
Rule Two: always talk to socially connected people to meet or drop-by during the vacation. This includes having new tricks on what to visit or where to eat/stay.
Rule Three: rent a car at the airport and move in different zones of the vacation area booking places online on a daily basis except for the first night. When possible, always book a b&b/Airbnb in downtown with a free parking lot.
Obviously, I know we're not the only people following this kind of principles, but since we have a lot experience on that and 99% of the time was an extremely successful vacation, I would love to continue with an example. ;)
Last year Val took a great unexpected vac time in early October, and for me, being a co-founder and a mentor and working mainly from home, was a pleasure to take some time off synchronized with her week off immediately and travel somewhere. So we decided to chat with a common friend who lives in Trapani, west Sicily and on his confirmation that we could meet&drink without any problem, we booked a flight from Milan to Palermo.
The same night I've had spent half an hour on booking.com (which I strongly recommend by experience) looking for the best place for the first night as always. I've found a delicious deco b&b in Palermo downtown with free parking and I've rented a car at the local airport.
In the next days, we briefly and generally decided what to do in Sicily. We knew 7 days weren't enough to visit the beautiful island so we just split the map in half and go for just west Sicily. At the end the path was more or less planned, as we always give us some degree of freedom just in case we meet new local people (as frequently happen) and stay maybe one more night in the same place.
In the pic we were in Palermo downtown, the city was great, but what was even greater was meeting the 2 brothers owners of the b&b we stayed the first night, and since was so great, we decided to stay also on the last night. 4 new friends (including their respective wives) and one more night booked, boom. Palermo is a gorgeous historical capital, with nice corners in downtown, special super-noisy folk markets, and delicious food. On top of this, is pretty inexpensive. This is the b&b page: https://www.booking.com/hotel/it/opera-palermo.en-gb.html
The next day we left the city to go to the beach, relax is still relax and as said in the intro post, I love the sea, in every aspect, including reading while hanging on a beach lounger.
This pic is from our b&b room balcony in San Vito lo Capo, which is 1 hour by car from Palermo.
This place is really magic, the beach itself is wonderful, water is crystal clear and to be early October I was surprised was still a little crowded.
Anyway, we spend a really cool relaxing day, reading and drinking with a couple of splashes in the Med. ;)
Was now the middle of the week, and as planned we reached Trapani and met our great friend Marco, who runs an awesome restaurant with his wife and another great guy. We spend a couple of days in Trapani with Marco visiting the city and some near beaches and enjoying al fresco dinners/nights together. We always love to refresh memories with the friends we met around the world in what sometimes looks another era in our minds. This concept blows constantly in every travel.
This picture with Marco describes better the idea, lol :)
From there, with took the car again as we moved to Agrigento to see the temples and enjoy other typical southern food, and later Cefalu', where we had our happy last splash day in a Sicily beach. I've to say that Agrigento, Scala dei Turchi, and the Greek temples area are all equally magnificent.
The hill of the ancient site is breathtaking. The near restaurant we chose for dinner was a total blast, linked here 'cause if you drop by, you should go and eat their marvelous food.

Italy is always an awesome experience when traveling, but Sicily really makes it special. So, whatever is your preferred way of enjoying a vacation, I strongly suggest a Sicily visit, especially at the end of the northern hemisphere summer. October is really perfect, go to Sicily!
Thank you for your time reading this, hope you liked and any touch on comment/question is greatly appreciated, meanwhile, enjoy your weekend!
