Once again awesome pictures. My dad also made his way to Pompeii when he was over there in the Navy. I remember him talking about it one time and saying that it was the most depressing place he had ever been. After seeing the picture of the casts, I can imagine why he felt that way. Very sad!

That is part of it, but you can also appreciate that these were people much like us who had a thriving town with all you really need.

Many thanks for including me :)

I watched the Pink Floyd performance on youtube not long ago.
What history to be able to visit.

That Hercules statue is risque isn't it? How's daddy going to explain that one to little johnny?

The Romans were not shy about showing all the details. The brothel had some graphic paintings and I think there was more. Apparently penises keep the evil eye away!

Were they small folks, he looks really short in height? I thought that statue gave directions to the Romans in route to the latrine.

They are both quite stunning to be honest, Italy is definitely a vacation destination for me in the future

Being a local, I much prefer to take visitors to Ercolano. It is much smaller but much better preserved and less tourists! Glad to see you got to explore both.

I'm glad I got to see both. Pompeii has a few unique things that we enjoyed.

The Vesuvius history is just fascinating, and its even crazier to see how the disaster preserved the moments of horror those people faced.

I find it hard to imagine how life used to be back then, looking at the pictures gives us a gimpse, the worn street, the art. Thanks for taking us there on your post.
