Good day, dear readers! Today I invite you to discover my own hometown, Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. Since non-Americans usually get a faraway, I-have-no-idea-where-that-is-but-I-don't-want-to-say-so look on their face when I mention the name, here is a map for your convenience. ;)
Cincinnati is located in what's known as the Heartland of America, also known as Middle America or the Midwest. Ohio is kind of shaped like a heart as well, so that works. Cincinnati used to be a pretty important city, and was known as "The Queen City of the West." As time went on however, Ohio was no longer considered West, and other cities moved to prominence. Since then, Cincinnati has become a synonym for "lame place" in popular culture. Nevertheless, during the last few years, she's woken up a bit, and it's not so bad. :)
I've shared about how when I lived in Malta, I took the opportunity to travel around Europe a bit. I also managed for the first couple of years to make it home to visit my family every Christmas. The pictures in this post are from one of those trips, and were originally posted as an album on Facebook entitled "American Beauty." I think it's ironic how it sometimes takes going away from a place you've always lived in to to see the beauty of it, to understand it better, and to maybe appreciate it in a way you didn't before.
So, without further ado, here are a few snapshots of my city in winter. Enjoy!
The skyline through a veil of trees. Cincinnati is actually one of the greenest cities in America. One of our city parks is nearly 1,500 acres!

Well, I hope you enjoyed this stroll through my city's streets. Cincinnati isn't really a tourist attraction, but it's beautiful in its own quiet way. Thanks for reading!
