Poltava is my hometown.

Hello my dear friends! I would like to introduce you my native city Poltava. I was born and grew up in this city.
Poltava is a quiet, small town on the territory of the Left Bank Ukraine. The history of the city begins in 1174, when the city was first mentioned in the annals, although archaeologists believe that the settlement existed several hundred years earlier. Day of the city is celebrated on September 23 and this year we will celebrate 1118 years on new calculations. (Although from the mention in the annals only 843g.). But you can see the importance of the city in a year. Historians agree that the name of the city comes from the river "Ltava"; "Sail on the river"( in Russian sounds "on" like "Po" ) and gave - "Poltava".

Walking through Poltava usually starts from the center, in which the Corps Garden is located, the park is like a round shape and all the streets from it like sun rays go into the distance.

In the center of the park there is a monument of Glory, which is an Eagle with a wreath in its teeth. Now it looks like this.

Poltava is very hospitable city, we can find many cafes, restaurants, various entertainment facilities, located mainly in the central part of the city.

The Museum of Local Lore is obligatory for visiting. It contains many historical monuments, objects of archeology, natural history, ethnography and local culture in general.

Poltava is called the "spiritual capital of Ukraine". In its territory are many, churches, monasteries. If you walk along the central street to the end, you can get to the Rotunda of Friendship , as we call it, White Arbor.

It overlooks the Krestovozdvizhensky monastery. This is a providential monastery, at the moment it acts like a female monastery, although it was originally male.
