Sun Surf Soul Travels Hawaii – Haleiwa, North Shore

in travel •  7 years ago

At the Northern tip of Oahu, you’ll find the cute little town of Haleiwa. The beaches around here are super beautiful as is the snorkeling. The amount of turtles we saw was insane! Turtles have got to be my favourite sea creature so I was stoked to be swimming with them on the daily.

The water temp is 25degrees Celsius (76F) all year round and there is nearly always a fun little wave to be had. In the winter time the surf here is HUGE and you may be familiar with the famous surf break Pipeline.  Would love to return during the surf season just to watch the raw power of the sea and those brave enough/crazy enough to surf it!

The traffic here was absolutely horrible so we tried to cycle/walk as much as possible. If you stay in Haleiwa town you are close to everything anyhow. Not to mention the landscape of Hawaii is gorgeous so every walk is always beautiful. Look at this guy we stumbled across.

Cheers! Yeah me too, could've happily stayed on the North shore for much longer!

I've seen turtles at the Great Barrier Reef but have never seen them on the beach like that. Love the first shot!

Cheers! Yeah it's pretty bizarre, apparently they just enjoy a sunbathe and afternoon siesta on the sand.

awesome colors!
