Why I Love Traveling

in travel •  7 years ago  (edited)

You guys know that I travel a lot. I'm very happy while traveling, or not while I'm actually traveling because I hate airports. But when I arrive at new destinations I'm super happy.
That being said, I also love the feeling of coming home.
Here's the reason why I love traveling so much.

Just a random picture of me in front of the whole wide world, at a museum in Finland.

Traveling is the only thing that you can buy for money, that will make you richer.

I guess that the same goes for books, but I love them too.

And...

I travel to feed my curiosity. I'm scared that one day my curiosity will go away. So I travel to keep exploring.

But I also travel because I love food, and I get to try new cuisines all the time.

Another perk of the traveling is that you meet a lot of interesting people. Very often you meet like-minded people, but even more interesting: you meet people that are vastly different from yourself.

Traveling also makes me very appreciative of my life back home in Norway, and more grateful for what I have. I've visited a slum in Kenya and seen the favelas in Rio. It changes your outlook on life when you're as fortunate as I am.
These experiences have definitely led me to my decision to work as a volunteer and to support charities even more.

Why do you travel?

Same reasons as you do! Also, I have always wanted to live abroad even for a while (even a few months), maybe one day I´m going to do it :). Me and my husband just tried to count how much money we have spent on travelling but that was impossible thing to do, I think it was a quite much :D. But we don’t regret anything, all those experiences are worth every penny (and something we can look back when we are old)!

When traveling and other cultures are known, even our way of being changes

That's so true! I love that.

Awesome your traveling, i appreciate this photography.

Thank you very much! I appreciate it.

most welcome dear....have a nice day

Likewise!

Thanks......

We have lived in a number of different countries with our four children. They are definitely more broad minded and confident from the experience and are able to relate to people from all backgrounds.

These pictures are so beautiful. Travel is a great way to see new cultures and explore new experiences. I hope to see as many places in the world as you!

Thank you very much. I agree completely. I think we all need to see what else is out there. I think you will :)

Great post! I love traveling, because it lets you see your true inner self. Additionally, I love meeting new people, experiencing new cultures and tasting delicious food. I recently just started my own travel blog, so kind of addicted to traveling :D

This post is so inspiring in so many different ways, thank you!

Traveling can be really great fun for sure.

I second this!!

There is no other thing in the world that can compare to traveling. So many people are stuck in life and have never traveled! Traveling brings you new experiences but also makes you see life differently. Like you said, you learn to appreciate in a new way! I didn't start traveling until I was 22 and I wish I had started earlier but it's the best thing I have decided to do!

Great article!

Glad to see your beautiful pictures, I just started travelling a lot recently. Trying to explore new cultures and maybe capture a few good shots as well. I don't think you'll lose your curiosity, once a adventure always a adventure, we might have some responsibility that take us away for a bit in our life but will always find a way back !

Traveling is the bomb! ...probably shouldn't yell that at an airport.

Traveling is fun to me because my wife and I have so many places we want to see. Experience different cultures, foods, and life in general is fascinating. It also makes you appreciate home more (like you said). Tonight we were at a restaurant and I asked for a refill, I thought to myself, "Huh...I couldn't do that in Chile". Funny how little things like that make you think. Awesome topic to post about! We actually have to catch a plane back to Idaho in a week.

First of all, the most important... are those penguins on a beach in South Africa??

And about traveling, well it is one of the greatest pleasures actually. Getting to discover a new place, new culture, sometimes even new food!

I still remember the time I went to Rome and visited to Vatican and the Coliseum, beautiful places those 2.

I'm one of those people who has a huge desire to travel and still has not had the opportunity for such, I hope one day at least get eheh

Keep up the good sharing of your travels!

Cheers,

@ t-miles

What fun to be so close to some penguins. The place looks very relaxing and the photos were great! I hope you have had a great time with your friends.

This great traveling.... i like your photography.

Is it weird that I kind of like airports? I mean, I don't like the possibility of getting sick from all the germs, or stuck there over night, or my privacy invaded by people digging through my stuff and patting me down, but airports make me feel adventurous! (I totally understand not liking them, though!).
I definitely want to travel more! Right now I have two littles, so it's difficult, but when they're older I want to visit more places!
I get what you're saying about traveling making you appreciate coming home and where you live. Living in South America did that for me!

We travel for pretty much the same reasons. We always have three 'goals' in mind when visiting a new place. Try the food, get involved in a local experience and this last one works from time to time: give back to the community. This is done either through monetary value (most of the time) or time value (volunteering), which we would like to do more of.

We haven't been away from home for more than 3 months (that was one trip to Southern Africa), so we would like to test our limits - see how long we can go until we truly start missing home.

wow,, nice,,,

You put it well -the best about traveling are new experiences, people and food. I think it makes you grow as a human when you learn about other cultures and life all around the world. I'm (we are) going to write a lot about our trips abroad later so you might want to follow us to see whats coming :)

Great summery, thats indeed what traveling is about, just came back from California yesterday and already excited to look into something thats next again

Right now I'm a bit settled with three little kids, but I used to travel a lot and the travels gave me all the best impulses in my life. I have a great fear of flying, but had to do it anyway to get to where I wanted. The adventurous travels and the people I've met along the way is something that will stay with me forever. A good friend from Hawaii told me: "Traveling is about the people you meet". I do agree! Getting friends on travels is a great introduction to culture, food and language, it can also be a great way of discovering things tourists normally don't. My biggest tip would be to be open minded and to get to know the locals! :) Helen

I salute those of you who decide to become humanitarian volunteers.
and traveling in my opinion is something fun.

I agree. It's a lot of fun and it enriches your life. A lot and in many ways.

Yach...

Travel keeps my life in perspective.

I haven't been able to travel for a while now, but that drought is about over. France and Greece in less than two weeks!

I share your love of tasting the local flavors. The traditional, local ingredients offer more than taste; it's history. Food says so much about who we are and where we've been as a people.

I enjoy the local architecture. The older, more historic buildings that offer a glimpse into who those people were, and are, just like the food. Different ideas as to how to build, and especially those buildings suited to the local climate.

Mostly, though, I try to find a place where I can sit and watch people live their lives. Where they dine, shop, drink, party, and work. I let those impressions sink in and they are most of what I take back home with me. Those sights, sounds, smells, and shreds of conversations that echo, 'This is who we are.' That's what I look for when I'm away. The rhythm of life in that place.

Hello Susanne, the name of a nice, your jobs very precious.human very much, but very few people who are willing to work like you.success always for you, best regards latifah1,I am from Aceh Indonesia

I think traveling is like a drug. For me it is new impressions, new food, new emotions. I like to pack my bags before the trip, I like the way to the airport, the anticipation of rest. In the last days of the trip, I almost always want to go home. It's a great feeling, when you cross the roads of your home.

Cultural immersion...

You learn.

You go home grateful. Guaranteed.

I pretty much feel the exact same way about traveling 😊 It frees my spirit and is almost the only thing I can buy with money that truly makes me happy and lets me learn a whole lot.

Why do you travel?

Traveling is like having an itch scratched. It's a basic need, bubbling deep down inside. After I became a parent I had to stop. We've taken the kids to numerous places in Europe and even to Thailand a couple of times, but this is not traveling. That is holidaying. Good holidays, great holidays, but not traveling. Traveling is exploring, experiencing, tasting - living. :) Thank you @susanne for sharing your travel experiences, and letting me daydream, reconnecting with my inner vagabond. :)

Love your steemit hat. Your post is making me feel like traveling more lol i've only ever traveled to thailand but the next few months ill be going off to England but i hate long flights lol (fear of flying... which is not a good thing for a singer as i'm needing to travel)

Traveling really is one of the greatest things. Not only is it so fun, buts its one of the best educations about the real world, how it works and what its like.

All societies I have seen have bias and often do not understand other cultures very well. When you travel you get first hand experience on how different cultures work, live, eat, believe etc etc.

I also love to see new things and taste new things. Oh the sights and flavors of the world! A never ending adventure!

I just found you here on Steem and will be sure to follow you as it looks like your living a fantastic life.

See you around soon I am sure. Heres a photo of me and the entire world! haha

SteemOn!
