good question! I use the Sony A9 which I appreciate is a bit of a heavy duty camera, but actually I frequently use my iphone 7 to take pictures and it does very well! I would probably say don't worry about getting an expensive camera at first, a beginner dslr will probably be more than enough, and then some practice at editing!
