The Galapagos is one of a few places in the world
you can see Giant Sea Turtles.

My parents managed to get some amazing shots during their visit.

Personally I'm fascinated by turtles, especially these giant ones. They always seem so Zen and deliberate no matter what they do, not to mention the intricate patterns on their shells! Of course I was thrilled so see that my parents got some pictures of both land and sea turtles on their trip to the Galapagos.

I always think of the Never Ending Story or the fable about the tortoise and the hare when I see these gentle giants. Some are able to live over 100 years! On the islands they even setup an exhibit about one of their older tortoise's named George who passed in 2012 at an age of 104!

Normally I wouldn't include pictures that were fuzzy or blurred. But the more I stared at these and the way the water refracted the light...the cooler they looked to me!

There are sea turtles here in Hawaii that will swim right up to you. They look like massive moving rocks underwater.

Those turtles are huge! I would love to sit next to one and see how big they really are

I'm a turtle daddy. The first summer I moved to South Texas I joined the turtle patrol on the Padre Island National Seashore. I found a nest that had over 150 eggs in it. Later that year they released 96 of my babies back into the Gulf of Mexico. Hopefully some of my babies have made it back to shore to lay their own eggs by now. I often find myself at the beach contemplating whether or not any of mine made it and if so would they come and lay their eggs at the place I frequent.
Nice posting. Steem on gurl....

Being as endangered as they are, even their poop is protected!

Wait...why is their poop protected?

On an unrelated note I LOVE the blurred pictures at the end.

Turtles are really fascinating! I hope I can see these giant tortoises also. I feel sad for Lonesome George, though.

I got to snorkel with sea turtles in the Caribbean. It was mind blowing! I love the ripples of light in the pics of the turtles in the water, as it reminds me of that epic day outside of Tulum when I swam with them! Wonderful post, as always. :)

good photos and interesting post, I have to go there, I have never seen a live tortoise: D PS. well, unless ninja turtles :D

Never ever saw turtles that big wow :D

I have always been amazed by the Galapagos islands with their unique flora and fauna, I hope to one day be able to fo there but for now I'll have to settle for your pictures!

giant indeed

Beautiful photos. Interesting creations. Big but so slowly ones. BTW your cat is very lovely.

They were indeed some nice captures !And as it seems they are indeed endangered and this place sure will help them a lot !
And as usual the kitty looks great !

I LOVE TURTLES! I don't know what it is about them, but, they just seem so super peaceful! My husband and I went swimming with them in the Caribbean! I will have to make a post of it, we got some great video. This is a GREAT post! (And I love your super handsome cat!).
Amy

wow very cool and beautiful, I am really touched to see the various forms, thank you for posting this very beautiful fhoto I am very happy to see it, may I shere @sykochica

I've experienced myself how humbling it is to visit animals in their natural habitat... It's a wonderful experience! I've not had the change with giant Turtles, but I did with sea lions and penguins - not from a park but guided in their own environment!

It's really amazing, glad you could have this experience :-)

Superb post and superb photos, and after listening to you on steemit chat, I think I finally got there with the editing via markdown, on my 2025 post. Thank you for the encouragement, and for the fantastic guides on your page (past posts).

Wow!! The first turtle is massive. Is that the real body size or does it expand or what? It's so big.

Nice photos your parents are lucky. I always wanted to go to visit Galapagos, turtles are amazing animals. Sea-turtles travel all over the worlds oceans, globetrotters of the sea.
Mentioned you in my latest post. Cheers! =)

Whenever I see turtles, I can't help but hum the old TMNT cartoon theme haha

I love turtles, they just are not overly rushed, they are mellow usually (thinking snapping turtle)...and they still get what they need to get
I like turtles
