Say Hello To Tangerine Travels - Two Gringos and a Husky Driving Through Mexico (VIDEO)

in travel •  7 years ago  (edited)

A small part of us didn't think we'd actually do it. We could move to Mexico, but would we? Would we really sell everything we own except what would fit into two suitcases each?

These were some of the questions we (Jordan @shenanigator and Maddie @sharingeverybite) were asking about a year ago. As time went on, the conversations got more serious until July of 2017 when they turned into actions. Knick after knack, we sold everything except what fit into our tangerine-colored Prius C.

And here we are in Mexico today. We did it. We left the country to begin our "Tangerine Travels" with our husky, Laska. Here's a sneak peek into some of the shenanigans we've been getting into since departing Phoenix, Arizona and road tripping through Mexico.

Watch the video below.

If you get a chance check out my last video I posted. A quick 1 minute edit "My Year 2017" through 8 different countries.

Thank you, we appreciate that. After going to the first #SteemFest we realized what a limited perspective on the world we both truly had. And once we attended the second one, it really solidified it in our minds—we need to travel more. There's no better way to broaden your understanding of life, culture, people, and places.

Sounds like you know exactly what we mean after traveling through 8 countries last year! Impressive. :)

oh wow, you were so brave! We'll be in Mexico this May and we can't wait to experience this amazing country ourselves. Looking forward to your next update

@espressobreak, love your name! You'll probably find that espresso is somewhat hard to get in certain parts of Mexico. We can't seem to figure out why though.

You're going to love it here! At least we've loved all the parts so far. Perhaps our paths will cross when you're visiting in May! Keep us posted on your travels just in case.

Loved the video. Great work. :)

Thank you! It's just a teaser of what's to come.

Congratulations to both!! I wish you a lot of happiness in this new step :)

Thanks Adil. We appreciate your kindness.

hey guys cool video really love that you took the step and did it!!! I lived in Mexico in Las Mochis for a while about 10 years ago and really enjoyed the people and culture. I am looking forward to seeing more of your adventures.
@unityeagle check out this couple they are doing it :) Fun!

We were just in Los Mochis. We only stayed there for one night, but we really enjoyed it! Thanks for following along.

Cool, that part of Mexico along the coast is beautiful... so excited for you two on your adventures.

Very inspiring, following your adventures!

Awesome, thanks for following along.

aaaahhh so THIS was the packing into one suitcase thing, I see you @sharingeverybite! Congrats on taking the leap both of you! Following so I don't miss any tangerine goodness!

You are one smart cookie! Nothing gets past you ;) Had to keep our plans on the DL for a bit while we got everything sorted out. Thanks so much for the continued support! Means a lot to both of us!

Of course! Looking forward to seeing more adventures and that adorable doggo of yours!

have fun and don't forget the sunscreen

Great advice. ;) By some miracle, neither of us (almost as white as they come) have gotten sunburned. We'll have to up the ante as the summer months roll in, though.

Holaa!

You started your travel as you said in Lisboa!!!

Pasadlo bien y tened cuidado

You remembered! Thanks for the words of encouragement. We can't wait for the experiences to come.

This is a huge sacrifice and i am excited you will find excitement in this.

awesome that you did it. enjoy your time in mexico!

Thanks! It's been highly enjoyable so far.

:D always thankful for good travel impressions/ tips. might be over there at the end of the year.

How exciting! Good for you two - I moved to France right out of college for the same reasons - I had lived in Ohio my whole life and I wanted to discover as much of the world as I could before I got a real job and all that. 15 years later, I'm still avoiding that real job! Enjoy your travels!

Steemit and D.Tube are our "real" jobs now. Does that count? Haha!

Are you still living in France?

Alas, no! I lived there for several years and then came back to the states for the last 11 years, but I snagged myself a Frenchman while I was there and imported him back here with me. I continued to spend long summers there for about 5 years after we came back here and then we started our family - but we still travel quite a bit! It is possible! Now we just combine trips to France with the discovery of at least one new place each time. Our little munchkin is a good sport. We've taken him to Greece, Québec, Strasbourg, etc and now he's asking for Tokyo and Venice!
If only platforms like this had existed back when I was globetrotting - what a fantastic way to finance your adventures and let us all live vicariously!

Ah, very cool. It's great that you can still get some traveling in while having a family to take care of. Do you have a favorite place of those you've been?

We loved Napflio, Greece - such a cute charming little seaside town with so many ruins, fortresses, etc to visit and lots of good food. Several years ago, we really enjoyed our time in Portugal as well...I can't think of a "bad" trip we've taken really...I guess it depends on your expectations. We're relatively laid back and like to explore the life and the people where we are, so we aren't spending all our time running in and out of museums and things like that...

Steemit and D.Tube defiantly count as real jobs! I liked your post keep up the good work guys!!

I really like to follow every post you.
I will look forward to the next posting.
Good luck my friend

Oh that was such an incredible piece of news to me!
Congratulations on getting on your journey!
It was a very daring experience to lean on.
You are going to do this for all your life?
Aren't you going to land somewhere when you are old?
Wow! You are very brave like the dolphins in the sea!
Brave souls to learn from.
Thank you for dropping by.
Best Wishes,

Are you now in Los Mochis Sinaloa if you spend the day there if you want to know a beautiful place I recommend the Benjamin Francis Johnston Botanical Garden is on Blvd. Antonio Rosales Sur 750, Centro, 81200 Los Mochis, Sin., Mexico a while ago a report on the place and it looks very nice.
I hope your stay at Los Mochis is safe, you try not to go out late at night.
Enjoy your trip very much
Have a beautiful day in Mexican skies

We did spend a night in Los Mochis, and we really enjoyed it. Unfortunately, we're no longer there. We would've loved to stay there a little longer, but it was the most expensive city we had been to and we're trying to travel on a budget.

I will continue your trip and if you want some tip on Mexico I will gladly help you.
Be very careful and do not travel at night and try to use toll roads are safer.
Where many Americans have made their home is San Miguel Allende Guanajuato is a small colonial city here I leave the Wikipedia link so you know about this beauty of the city.
I've been there and fell in love with this place. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/San_Miguel_de_Allende

This is so exciting! I'll definitely be following along :)

Espectacular aventura... Te felicita y mucho exito en tus futuros viajes amigo

Oh my God this is so cute! I'm so happy for you!!! What a great decision.
I almost missed this post since you're blogging from different account now. Of course I'll be following you from now on. All the best for this amazing journey 💛 Muchos besitos! 🙂

In Lisbon, you told us that over the course of SteemFest you found yourself thinking in English because you had been talking with people in English. We thought that was so incredible and are super excited for the day we start thinking in Spanish! Thanks for your lovely comment and friendship. It means a lot to us!

That's so sweet! The next time we meet we can talk in Spanish then :-)
Looking forward to following your wonderful adventure from here!

With any luck, we'll be fluent next time we meet! Hopefully that's in the near future...it would be great to see you and catch up! :)

Well done on building up the courage to get up and go! It's the worries of the future that would hold us back, but we guess if you live in the moment the future will sort itself out! Good luck on your travels @tangerinetravels

That's so well put. Fear is our biggest enemy!

Thanks for the comment. :)

woow....good !!Congratulations to both!! I wish you aCongratulations to both!! ! Good luck on your adventure

Ah, this is fun! You got a new follower. I just got back from Acapulco and plan to do a lot more traveling with @corinnestokes and our three kids. We've travelled a lot around the US for various conferences and stuff, but we haven't driven down to Mexico yet (though we did go up to Canada). I'm looking forward to seeing more of what you experience. I like the fun style of the video editing as well. :)

Hey @lukestokes! Thanks for the thoughtful comment. Those compliments are music to our ears. :)

We would absolutely recommend you explore Mexico based on our experiences these past couple weeks. I'm sure your family would have a great time!

And please let us know if we can answer any questions you have to make your life easier if you do decide to go south of the border! Looking back, there are a couple dozen easy changes we would make to maneuver the problems we ran into during the first few days.

Thanks for the post@tangerinetravels.

Congratulations @tangerinetravels!
