Wat Chaiwatthanaram is a valuable ancient temple (almost 400 years ago) and is one of the must-see temples in Ayutthaya Historical Park.
It is one of the ancient sites in the Ayutthaya Historical Park that was declared a World Heritage Site on December 13, 1992.
Visiting the temple will be a unique experience for you as the temple has beautiful and unique architecture; i.e. some of the pagodas were influenced by Khmer art, modeled after Angkor Wat.
According to the sign, there is “Stucco Relief Panel Depicting the Scene from the Life of the Buddha - Giving Sermon to His Mother on Dawadung Heaven”.
Besides, you can study Thai history from the ancient site as well.
This temple was built to commemorate the victory over Khmer. The word “Chai” comes from the word “Chaiyo” which means “victory”.
It was an announcement of the greatness of King Prasat Thong and all the victories he had achieved.
I can say that Wat Chaiwatthanaram is a popular destination for tourists.
If you visit Ayutthaya Historical Park, do not miss Wat Chaiwatthanaram.
p.s. I used to show you some photos of this temple in my old posts, but these photos are new ones.
I can imagine how walking through the ancient temple grounds would feel like stepping back in time. Thank you for sharing this as it is definitely worth the visit.
