Wat Choeng Tha, an ancient temple in Ayutthaya province, Thailand

Wat Choeng Tha is an ancient temple in Ayutthaya province, in the center of Thailand. Within the temple area, there are many beautiful and important historical sites from the late Ayutthaya period in the ancient times.

Although they have been destroyed over time, they still leave valuable historical traces for future generations to admire and study.

There are various legends about this temple. The one among them is said that “a rich man built a house for his daughter who ran away with her lover and never returned. Therefore, he donated the house to the temple that was built, named "Wat Khoi Tha". (“Khoi” means “wait”)

The area of Wat Choeng Tha is divided into 2 parts: the historical site group and the monk area. The historical site consists of the sermon hall, pagoda, stupa, chapel, bell tower, and glass wall, etc.

According to the sign, the principle stupa has a spire shape and square foundation with the porch on each side. The front porch is connected to the Viharn. Each side of the main body of the stupa is decorated by stuccoes of standing Buddha images.

Other smaller pagodas are also magnificent....

Besides, there are many beautiful Buddha statues lined up around the temple area.

In addition to the ancient historical sites, Wat Choeng Tha is also filled with a lot of sacred things.

It’s worth a visit indeed.
