Day 2 of our crazy roadtrip (Click HERE to read more about it), it's dark and we are searching for a room to stay in. We kept riding looking for home-stays and asking the local folks for help. There was barely any signal in the area we were looking for the rooms, a place near Kakkabe, Coorg. Our phone batteries were drained as well.
Finally one auto rickshaw driver helped us out and led us to this hilly, isolated place, and there were couple of houses around. A very nice lady greeted us and rented out one of the houses for us to stay. This place was magical. We were completely disconnected from the city, no shops for miles, it was pitch black, the only light was from the stars! We could hear the babbling of a brook, the crickets chirping and the pleasant breeze. We sat out there for a little while looking at the stars, enjoying the nature, away from the city lights and after sometime we decided to sleep because we were planning for a 3.75km trek to Tadiandamol.
Tadiandamol is the highest peak in Coorg with an altitude of 5735 feet. It is located in the Western Ghats range. Here's a picture.
We reached the base and we looked at the gravelly road and a board which said the trek one way is 3.75 kms. We looked at each other, we were already exhausted and we knew it was going to be very exhausting to trek almost 8 kms. So we decided to head back, look for scenic spots that did not involve strenous trekking.
Here's a picture of the gravelly road.
Here's a picture of a stream we spotted while heading back from the peak.
Here's a picture of the view right outside our room and that's the Tadiandamol peak!
