If you are looking for a place where you can easily combine diving and beach bumming, Moalboal is a great destination for you. Most tourists in Moalboal stay either at Panagsama Beach or White Beach. There is plenty of accommodation near either beach and both locations are easy to reach with public transport such as Tricycles. Since the resorts in the area cater mostly to divers, entertainment is laid back and more of a chilled out pub style atmosphere. Diving is the main tourist activity in Moalboal and is considered as very good. The reefs along the coast are home to a great variety of marine life and Pescador Island, about 3 km off the coast, is one the most popular dive spots. Other popular attractions such as waterfalls, caves and canyons can also be found nearby.
Panagsama Beach
Panagsama Beach is known for its amazing dive spots, the Sardine Run and the diversity of marine life around the reefs. If you are looking for a beautiful beach, you should rather stay at White Beach. Even though we both don’t dive, we decided to stay here for a couple of days because of the great snorkeling locations. There are also many dive shops and training centers that offer tours to Pescador Island and the reefs around it. Boats full of divers leave early in the morning and return in the afternoon or early evening. Even if you don’t dive, you can still join them and enjoy snorkeling in the crystal clear water. Panagsama Beach has many restaurants and bars, some of them are directly at the waterfront, where you can dine or just have a drink and enjoy the breathtaking sunsets after a long adventures day on the ocean.
White Beach
About 7 km north of Panagsama is White Beach, a beautiful pristine white sand beach with crystal clear turquoise water and a coral reef not far from the shore. So of course we brought our snorkeling gear again to enjoy a glimpse of the colorful underwater world. White Beach is a popular spot not only for tourists and it can be a little crowded, especially during weekends. If you are looking for a quieter place, visit the beach during the week or make your way up a bit further north. The beach there isn’t that wide anymore but it is still very beautiful. Near the entrance to the beach are also quite a few small restaurants and cottages you can rent as well as some resorts if you decide to stay overnight. We spent almost the whole day in the water swimming and snorkeling and during the evening we watched the sun slowly disappear behind the mountains of Negros on the other side of the Tanon Strait. We had an amazing time here in Moalboal.
