The 737-900ER is the latest in a long line of 737 airliners built by Boeing. It features a stretched fuselage, new engines that are both more fuel efficient and more powerful and and extra doors aft of the wings. In addition they've added sharklets to the wingtips. All of this is intended to make the Boeing 737-900ER more economical to operate than its predecessors.

Enough about the plane. The flight from Vancouver, Canada to Juneau is both a spectacular scenic route and a hair raising landing so you get the best of both worlds.

In Part 1, we depart Vancouver International Airport at 4:00 AM so that passengers get to see the sunrise over the Rockies. The scenery is breathtaking. I've even included a little unexpected surprise for the passengers that they weren't expecting.

In Part 2, we descend and land in Juneau....maybe. Juneau is one of the most difficult airports in North America to land at and the Boeing 737-900ER is probably the largest aircraft that would land there. The airport is surrounded by Mountains on three sides. Miss an approach and you have a mountain staring you in the face directly ahead. You have to bank right into Juneau harbor to avoid a fatal crash. On top of this, the airport has no ILS landing system so all landings are done manually. Finally, the airport is blanketed in fog 90% of the time making visibility very difficult.

Part 1: Departure from vancouver and view of the spectacular scenery of the Rocky Mountains:

Part 2: The descent and landing (maybe) at Juneau International:

Have a pleasant flight. remember it's a simulator but it's as real as it gets.
