El Caminito Del Rey - World's second most dangerous foothpath (was)

in travel •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hello Steemers
Below I want to share with you some images from when I visited the Camino del rey in the gorge of El Chorro. The path was known as the second most dangerous foothpath because of the flaky and very dangerous areas within the path itself. Unfortunately the path has been closed and a renovation project was carried out and a new 'safe' walk way was made, in my opinion ruining the romance of the area.

El Caminito Del Rey

The start of the cammino

Can you spot people walking the first part of the cammino?

we aren't the tallest people around, some impromptu climbing was required

there were areas where the whole cement floor was gone

the caminito was also place for a spectacular wire slack line. Unfortunately 3 daring walkers found their death when the cable snapped under their feet, plummeting them down 200meters

*this little bridge was very sketchy. You could feel it wobble under you feet!

*with each corner, a new spectacular view. The tunnel in the middle is an actual functioning rail road

*for the climbers, the path is crammed with climbing routes, below is an area called 'the three roofs'

look mum what I'm walking on

naturally we came here to climb
