Dear Steemians, this is my journey through Santorini and I invite you to be part of this dream. I travelled with my partner my soul mate and this was our first big holiday in seven years.
Thanks for taking time and going through my blog and I hope you enjoy this as I relive part of my holiday in Santorini :)
About: Santorini is in Greece and was formed after a massive volcanic eruption some 5000 years ago, these are now a series of beautiful small islands on the Aegean sea. Santorini is also referred to as Thira, Stongili (the round one), Kalliste (most beautiful) and so on.. These islands have a long history and one can spend a lifetime trying to uncover all its mysteries. Santorini is without doubt, the most decorated and proud jewel of Greece.
we got our flight from Athens at 5:20am and reached Satorini at 6:00am it takes just about 40 minutes to reach the island. Its a good way to start your day. Cost per ticket is 80 euros.
Our booking was at San Antonio, a hidden marvel within the hills facing the ocean. This was one of the most beautiful view I had seen in a while, perfect destination for you to relax and unwind. We reached San Antonio pretty early around 6:30am but our check-in was only at 12:00 so we decided to go for a little trek.
View of San Antonio from the hop of hills: (I am loving this it was spectacular)
We are super excited to be here:
First brekkie in Santorini amongst the hills and ocean.
Our check-in was delayed by couple of hours, to my surprise we were upgraded to a master suite with a sea view (~2000 AUD per nite). My original booking was only for a Junior suite (1000 aud per nite). We had to save money for a while to book this holiday :) I want you guys to see the Master suite and how lucky we got. Also, San Antonio staff are amazing!
The master bed:
Our own private Jacuzzi and sea view :)
True expression of happiness and relief: I love this pic this is from our room.
Time to relax:
Infinity Swimming pool was amazing fun:
Dinner date with mrs. at San Antonio: Chef is too good and kind enuf to gift us with a dessert tray.
We visited the township of OIA, this is the southern most tip of the island and best spot to view sun-sets! Tourism is at full flight here and it gets really busy during summer. The buildings and architecture is brilliant and I have learnt a lot from it. The road ways are tiny and speaks a lot about history and bond between the neighbors. Best way to experience the town is by foot under the sun.
Tourists in every nook and corner:
Houses in white at the edge of the ocean : sea of whites vs sea of blue is a spectacular view.
Am thrilled to be there:
Structures with Blue dome are simply too cool:
More cool structures, castles and views:
Donkey's day out, they couldnt control this fella.
Churches and Bells are everywhere: so serene
Steps am in love with these steps: I created a separate post here.. https://steemit.com/photography/@tjonsteem/i-love-steps
Perfect wedding destination:
Black Beach at Perissa: This is an awesome beach with lot of tourism its always busy. The soil is very loose and you can feel the power of the waves dragging you around. You are helpless against the nature :) You will find sunbeds and restaurants all around the strip. This is a must go :)
Arts and Culture: Every laneway and alley has an arts shop; you will find lot of porcelain and paintings it all fits very well with the city.
Hope you enjoyed my post :))
