Great Graffiti Art from Charleroi, Belgium

in travel •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hi fellow Steemians! Today I would like to share with you the images from a trip to Charleroi in Belgium - a place once voted the ugliest town in Europe. Undeservingly, in my opinion, have seen a lot of waaay worse places. The town was a center of an industrial district mainly connected with the steal industry. Sadly, after the recent financial crisis, most of the factories, steel mills and other companies from that field went bankrupt.

One people's loss, other people's gain - the city is now a very well known location for postindustrial tourism. This was also my goal, when I made the trip to Charleroi - see all the incredible abandoned factories, steel mills, power plants and even an abandoned metro station. Which we did with assistance of Charleroi Adventure. You can look up their facebook page for more information on it and perhaps arrange a tour of the sites with their assistance, if you are interested.

A more detailed report on the trip will follow in some time in the future. This post is about the great graffiti art we encountered there, which was one of the best I have ever seen. Photos are made by myself and my Dutch friend Jorgen.

Enjoy and feel free to comment.

What I share here with you is just a friction of a huge graffiti collection found in the corners of the city. Here an overview photo of the labirynth filled with great streetart:

Why tag polish? We use it for content in Polish language. You won't find many voters here so it will be better for you to change it.

I use it because I am Polish. Simple as that. It is not the main tag.
