The Eiffel Tower

In the center of beautiful Paris lies one of the most recognizable buildings in the world; the Eiffel tower. During my trip to France I was able to climb it, I want to share what surprised me about this wonderful structure.

In the following pics you can really see the incredible organization of the Paris, they emphasize incredible detail and symmetrical design

La tour Eiffel is was built in 1889 as part the world fair; a fair where you build large things. As part of fair rules, the building was scheduled to be torn down after 20 years, in 1909.

During the 20 years the French hated it, they claimed it as an eyesore to the beautiful french horizon. In fact, Famous french writer Guy de Maupassant was known for eating in the restaurant in the middle of the Eiffel tower, not because he appreciated the tower, rather, because that was the only place that he couldn't see it!

Here's a picture of the underbelly, let me tell you, it's very imposing, each piece of curved steel is huge, imagine the Eiffel tower in the size shown, but everything surrounding it feels like it's twice as small

The center of the underbelly, something you don't see on postcards ;)

We opted to climb up the thing, so I got great shots from the climb. The climb costed 5 Euros/person

A view of the persistent French attention to detail and emphasis on symetricality.

On our way up we learned that other projects were considered before Eiffel tower, this was brand new info, something you may not have thought about!

Night fell pretty quickly, time will escape you as you become lost in the marvelous view, then suddenly Bang the lights pop on

This is the view from the middle of the tower, this is where we spent the majority of our adventure. I believe we are looking down at where Hitler stood in that famous picture

here' he would be positioned close to the middle of the previous pic

As it became darker we, reluctantly decided to say our goodbye, where I took one last shot of the tower from the outside. This picture has no filters; it's magnificent.

In the end the Tower was never destroyed as it started to slowly grow on the public and was used as a radio post before World War I.

I hope you were able to take something out of this, I like to learn from other people's travels so why not reciprocate

let me know what you think,
and please, ask me anything about France!

thanks folks!

Nostalgia! I miss Paris, I was there last year with my best friend. I hope you're having a great time! How are you enjoying the food in Paris? I remember having the best duck in my entire life in a restaurant close to the Eiffel Tower.

I must say the food was not one of the many things that struck me, I found it quite overpriced and met my expectations, but that could be the places I went. What I did love was the Boulangeries and the Pattiseries, they had excellent deserts which you'll never find in Toronto (Canada). How long did you stay?

I stayed for only three days! I got lucky and found little alleyway restaurants which ended up surprising me with their high quality food. I fell in love with the Boulangeries and Pattiseries there, too! The desserts were absolutely stunning. :)

Next time you go, you must see the Musee D'Orsay, it's my favourite museum of all time and it's located in the heart of Paris!
