A comprehensive system of national parks and protected areas, the mission of the BNT is to conserve and protect the natural resources of the Bahamas through stewardship and education. Take a look at a few of close to 30 natural areas located throughout the region and start planning your vacation.
Blue Holes National Park – Established in 2002, Blue Holes National Park was created to protect this unique and beautiful area. Located on Andros, the island with the highest concentration of blue holes in the world, this park offers visitors the opportunity to explore this special and diverse underwater world.
Abaco National Park – Established in 1994, this over 20,000 acre park is home to around 1000 endangered Abaco Parrots in addition to caves and over 5,000 acres of lovely pine forests.
Walker’s Cay National Park – The northernmost island in the Bahamas, this area is famous for its underwater features. Surrounded by its own barrier reef, Walker’s Cay is home to stunning coral formations which are home to fish and animals large and smalls and is most famous for its underwater coral cathedrals and visibility of up to 1000 feet.
Pelican Cays Land and Sea Park – Located just 8 miles from Cherokee Sound, this over 2,100 acre park was established in 1972. Home to beautiful undersea caves and coral reefs, it is also home to many plants and animals above the surface of the ocean as well.
