Zion National Park is a United States National Park located in southwestern Utah, near the city of Springdale. A prominent feature of the 229-square-mile (590 km2) park is Zion Canyon, which stretches 15 miles (24 km) long and spans up to half a mile (800 m) deep. It cuts through the reddish and tan-colored Navajo Sandstone by the North Fork of the Virgin River. The lowest point in the park is 3,666 ft (1,117 m) at Coalpits Wash and the highest peak is 8,726 ft (2,660 m) at Horse Ranch Mountain. Located at the junction of the Colorado Plateau, Great Basin, and Mojave Desert regions, the park has a unique geography and a variety of life zones that allow for unusual plant and animal diversity.
"OH MY GOD"
This was literally my first word when I saw Zion Caynon.
The magnificence and beauty of nature are on full display in the caynon. The beauty of Zion National Park begins the moment you drive into the property. The roads are beautiful and you're surrounded by the most incredible rock formations you've seen. As you get deeper into the park, the contrast between high red rock mountains and greenery are spectacular. You can also count on seeing plenty of deer while you're here.
First spot I went is Weeping Rock. It is a short hike, but sometimes it is steep. Therefore, even that it is categorized as Easy, not everyone will be able to make it I think. I was told that this spot is great due to the water. But when I visited, there wasn't much water. Only few drops. Maybe because I went there in Winter. I was so disappointed that I missed it. I hope you to see the true beauty of Weeping Rock.
I went to Emerald Pools. I walked to there on day and enjoyed it. I must say, I enjoyed the walk but the lower pool, with the waterfall cascading over the edge is the best of the 3 in park. The views are stunning, and the hike is relatively easy. It's paved the entire way to the lower pools, and the trail to the middle and upper pool isn't too bad despite the rockiness. I recommend this hike for anyone new to hiking Zion and wanting a feel for it, or just a relaxing ,short hike. I loved it.
