Not to Miss: Wieliczka Salt Mine, Kraków, Poland – Part 2

in travel •  6 years ago

Well, and here we @travelingstories are again, ready for another post of a place that you shouldn’t miss, specially if you’re visiting the beautiful city of Krakow, in Poland: the Wieliczka Salt Mine!

This post is the second part of the one we posted sometime ago and that you should check 😊

The Wieliczka Salt Mine is located in the town of Wieliczka, just about 20 minutes from Krakow, by train, and it is a unique place, as you can see from the photos we’ve got to show you.

If you decide to visit this mine, you’ll have to go 327 meters down and chose one between many routes you can take: all of them with a professional and official guide from this mine-turned-into-museum.

This second posts shows you one of the best parts of the whole tour we @travelingstories took and that lasted for a few hours: the St. Kinga's Chapel, a very large chapel constructed by the miners over the centuries that this mine has operated.

Besides the rock-salt made statues, you can wonder at the many decorating objects and “paintings”… Yes, the traditional religious paintings of this chapel are all made of rock-salt!

After a brief stop at the chapel (roughly 30 minutes), our journey continued and we entered in the last part of the guided visit, in which you’ll also be able to see…

… Subterranean lakes!

… And much more that we @travelingstories are going to show you on the third post of this series, soon! 😊
