All over the world there are incredible and unique places... We @travelingstories want to bring them to you so that you can be inspired to visit and enjoy them!
Today, our post is about... The famous Leaning Tower of Pisa!
Located in Pisa, the Northern Italy town where Galileu Galilei was born, this tower is known worldwide due to its tilt. As you can see in our photos, the tower leans to one side and this tilt was unintended at the time of the construction. As @jdwolicki stated in the recent post at his blog, the ground beneath the tower wasn’t in the best conditions when the construction started.
The inadequate foundation caused the tower to have an inclination that reached more than 5% and that put the whole building in risk of collapsing. Fortunately, engineering works between 1990 and 2000 were able to restore the tilt to a safer level.
Nowadays, you can visit Pisa’s Cathedral Square (Piazza del Duomo) and wonder at this Remarkable Place or… Try to grab it and take home for yourself! :)
