Love Koh Samet as like you said it's so close to Bangkok for a quick weekend getaway. Yes, Pattaya is closer or even Hua Hin, but just the feeling of being on an island with less tourists and a bit better beaches (still not great) is somewhat more relaxing. Sam went there six/seven years ago when the roads through the island weren't paved, but Becca went there last year with a friend visiting from the U.K. and had a smooth ride with their rented scooter. Best way to explore the island, which can be done in a day! :)

Come Along [11] - National Park Paradise
Wow can't imagine what it was like a few years ago must have been so untouched! There's less and less places in the world like that now. Must have been such a great experience !

Even back in 2010/2011, the main town that you come into was heaving with backpackers. Sam and his family took the big tuk tuk with other tourists and the journey was very bumpy! Dropping off all the other tourists at their resort, we arrived at the end of the island to our resort. However it took a big effort for the tuk tuk to get up and over the steep hill at the end. We went backwards for a good 2-3 metres before the driver slammed on the brakes - scary! Yet, once there, it was our secluded paradise.
