Calm and peaceful places in the middle of Bangkok - The bangnam pueng floating market

bangnam3.jpgOkay it`s not exactly in the middle of Bangkok, but the place I am talking about today is in the south of the city and actualy easy to reach. But heaven thanks, not too many tourists know from this market, not too many western tourists, there are lots of thai tourists and other asian tourists there, but the market still kept his flair.

It is not only the market with the food stalls along the canals, not the products alone you can buy there, even there are many balms and herbs, of course clothes and shoes, it`s more about the small pieces that make the market to a fascinating big thing. Big thing - bacause it takes you maybe two hours to walk all of the market.

First of all, there is the temple. Its on on end of the market and calm. You can see monks and hear them chanting, you can walk around in the temples area and visit the main temple. There I really love the view. You stand behind a buddha statue...overlooking the green and you can see the skyline of Bangkok in the back...For me it is one of the most beautiful views, even not too spectacular, but very touchy.

Then there is the park. Here you can find lots of tables and benches and enjoy your food in the shadow of the trees....but this park is not only for picnicing...the elder generation of Bangkok comes together for karaoke singing, and there is also a little kindergarden, wher children can paint and doing arts.

There is also a typical thai house and a place where you can enjoy and rest. Thai furniture, lots of trees and coffee and snacks are waiting there. There is also a beautiful spirits house made of wood and the scenery is great there. Sitting under a mango tree and listening to the sound of the birds is great.

And there is also the way to the market. As soon as you reached by ferry, you can take a motorbike taxi for 15 baht, bringing you straight to the market...but I prefere to walk..it takes you maybe 20 minutes, but there is so much to see.

Just one or two more pics...and if you visite the bangnam pueng market....enjoy...but do it with respect.
