Melbourne. Many words can describe this beautiful, fun, colourful big city. Only having to be here for 2 years and 1 month, I have had the pleasure to explore some of its streets. Jumped off the plane and made my way through the unfamiliar streets towards my first home for 3 days, the backpackers Right on the famous Flinders Street in the heart of the city, I ventured out to understand what the whole hype for the Melbourne coffee was all about.
I was fortunate to call St Kilda my home for 1 month with an epic view of the ocean, Luna Park AND the city! Check it out! Shout out to my second cousin for the epic apartment views!
Being a fashionista, the colourful street art and groovy side alley lanes capture my heart. If you have the opportunity to visit this exciting and beautiful city, it's a must to check out Hosier Lane (Melbourne's most famous street art). Ps, #EdSheeran performed here last week! WOW!
I would never walk past an op shop or trendy small buzzing cafe, you'd be silly not to! Brunswick, Fitzroy, Chapel Street and Collingwood are all great suburbs to wear your favourite shoes and get your groove on to rummage through the second-hand specials.
Chapel Street, as I call it my backyard. I have lost count the number of times I have walked down the 4.13-kilometre street! Whether it's in the morning before work, or a nice evening stroll see before your eyes the change of surroundings with every 100 metres you step. Featuring the newest and hottest bars, clubs and restaurants to the tiny streets with epic street art not to mention the friendly markets weekly!
If you have the opportunity to have or hire a car I highly recommend it however you don't really need one in the city as the tram network is amazing! You must use the car to its full potential and drive outside the city! Drive down the coast towards the peninsular where the hot springs are or drive inwards to pitch a tent and explore the forests! Pro sailor or have the privilege to know someone with a yacht? Stop in Sandringham to sail on its flat waters.
In winter time the snow is only 3 HOUR DRIVE FROM MELBOURNE! I didn't know this for 1 whole year so I'm telling you now so no excuses!
Fancy a wine? There are plenty of vineyards to choose from!
Love sport? Well, Melbs has it all! from the Australian Open (tennis) to the home of AFL, formula 1, Melbourne Cup (horse racing), this place is for you!
So guys, just a little note to BOOK THAT FLIGHT AND COME TO MELBOURNE! Every single day I'm still in love and it still manages to surprise me with greatness! Just don't forget a raincoat and puffer jacket as you can never trust the weather!
I hope you liked my brief blog on the city that stole my heart. Leave a comment below if you have visited and what you loved most or comment just to say hey!
