Rusukan Island - Labuan Hidden Gem Island

Last month I was given the privilege to attend a Campaign of Visit Malaysia Year (VMY) 2020, under the campaign by our beloved Prime Minister of #Malaysia and Minister of Tourism.

The reason for this visit is to re-strategize Promotion & Marketing to the less promoted Tourist Attraction in Malaysia and one of them is Rusukan Island in Labuan. Rusukan Island actually has been on the Tourism Map for quite some time now but because less development by Private sector and Government of Labuan, the amenities was not there yet! Furthermore, no Tour Operators in Labuan is providing these services to go to the Island; that's the challenge during those time. Come 2018, a new emergence of Young and Ambitious Tour Operator set up in Labuan and they venture into re-promoting the Island for the Chinese Market.

We boarded a Catamaran Boat from Labuan Marina Jetty, it took us about 40min to arrive the Island. For your information, Labuan is one of Federal Territory State in Malaysia, and Labuan is used to be the Oil and Gas provider for the Nation. Along the boat journey to Rusukan Island, we passed a lot of Oil Carrier Barge Platform and Contena, it was quite a sight to see this huge massive platform in close eyes.

We arrived Rusukan Island later and was greeted by Tour Manager of the Island to our Table. Since it was an inspection Tour, we did not go for snorkeling. However, by looking at the water, it was clear as crystal (very tempting). Nonetheless, we were brought around the Island for inspection and we visited Turtle Conservation Center which is run and manage by Marine Department. We also took the opportunity to walk behind the Island, where we can see #Brunei from the shore (about 600meters away), that's when our mobile line went to International Broadband (Brunei). We were caught by surprise with all of us receiving SMS from Telco Company from Brunei "Welcome to Brunei... blah blah blah"!!!, but we are still in Malaysia waters. Only our Handphone arrived in Brunei, not the Owner 😅 What an Experience !!!

As for this inspection to Rusukan Island, we can finally say its back in Business. It is truly a Hidden Gem Island for Labuan, i wish there is a public boat to go to the Island for the Labuan folks, as when a human goes visit and inhabited, the promotion and marketing are INSTANT impacts thru "Word of Mouth", Media, Blog such as this. We don't need to spend millions to do Marketing Promotion but rather make it easy access to all, than let the nature runs by itself to promote.
