'A Tasty Scentuful Family'

crta.png

I come across a living herb collection. It is interesting to see all of these herbs on the same spot, alive and full of scent, not dried in little bags. They are all welcomed guests in every kitchen. When properly used they give our food that special extra mile which makes the difference between 'good' and 'awesome'.

Mint tea is often my choice of the day. I've always loved it. Ever since I was a child it was one of my often-sought beverages. A few years back I've even planted a few of these in my backyard so I can cook it fresh.

Lavender oil is known as a natural mosquito repellent and has strong antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effects when used on a wound. Lavender honey is a very specific one. It is also used in cake-making. I love to see the blossoming fields of lavender.

Origano is a very aromatic Mediterranean herb, best known for its widely-spread use as a spice put on a properly made pizza. It also goes well with all the food made with tomatoes. Very often it is used as a part of herb-mixture recipes.

Peppermint needs no special introduction. Tea, chewing gum aroma and drinks flavouring is its most known uses. It is less known that its oil is a natural pesticide and is often used in organic gardening.

Rosemary is also a Mediterranean plant. It was sacred to ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. Its strong scented bitter taste goes well with all sorts of meat. In ancient time it was widely used in wedding ceremonies.

Sage is another Mediterranean herb of slight peppery taste used all over the western world. It also has antiseptic effects.

Hope you enjoyed me stopping to photograph a few plants which shaped the culinary history. Seeing them in the same spot gave me a strong urge to write a few sentences of each of them. I wish people care more about the plant world and use the benefits it can provide to us.

Enjoy your day! :-)

Tea is one of the most diverse and tasty and healthy drinks on the planet. I would even be ignorant of tea - a global drink, because it is drunk in various parts of the planet.

During my life I drank a lot of tea and tried different tastes of tea. The most not tasty of them is a tea from bags which often sell in supermarkets. I also tried to use the famous Chinese Puer tea. I can say that he really gives your body and mind a sense of cheerfulness. This tea is for those who need to keep a sense of vivacity while working.
I liked the "set" of useful plants that you showed us. Mint - this is what most of all I like it.
Thank you

We always have an herb garden in the pots on our deck each summer. We also like to have some peppers and strawberries mixed in there. I have grown mint once before. That stuff spreads like a weed. It was fun trying to decode all the names of the herbs in the first picture. They were all pretty straightforward except for the Sage. I guessed Basil on that one.

One day when I buy Istria (yes, you have read that correctly lol) and when I declare independence and make my own laws, each and every house will have one of these cute fences with herbs. Give me a break, I can dream, can't I? 😁

Nice photos ! Every plant is beautiful and very unique. Keep up the good work :)

Thanks for sharing about some important herbs here. Basil is another important herb that helps to fight against cold. It also works as antibacterial properties which also fight against cancer.
