'Cosplay Costumes'

I stumbled upon a cosplay costume exhibition. For the ones who don't know what it is, cosplay is a sort of an interactive activity in which people dress up, usually according to a theme from a film, and have fun talking to each other as if a character which they choose to be. The costume, apart from good acting, is the main thing.

The phenomenon of cosplay is widespread throughout the world and each year more and more people join various cosplay shows to be able to share their fantasies with alike people.

It seems to be a great opportunity to become someone else for a short while and forget all worries form everyday life. Afterall, weren't masquerades and masked dances from the back way when also serving the same purpose?

What is the difference then, if it is not a new thing to pretend to be someone else behind a mask? There isn't one except that these guys have their own subculture and some of them are staying in their character for long periods of time.

These costumes surely took time and effort to create. Uh, look what just jumped at me. :D
