Drifting through Disney’s charming Storybook Land

in travel •  7 years ago  (edited)

My last post was actually written as I was standing in line waiting for a boat ride through Storybook Land. I was distracted by adorable little humans jumping and bumping around. There was also a pair of ducks comfortably asleep near the canal. I was laughed at by the boys because it seemed like I was more interested in the ducks versus the boat ride.

We finally made it to the front of the line and a miniature blue ship pulled up to the dock. It swayed gently with each step taken from boarding passengers.

We drove through the open mouth of a whale (which I recognized from Pinocchio) and it lead us through a tunnel, transporting us to Storybook Land.

That’s when I realized that we were taking a tour through each Disney Princess’ Kingdom.

I was delighted to see ducks nestled into open green spaces and a few napping behind small trees. I made a joke about the kingdoms being attacked by giant ducks.

Aladdin

Our guide was telling us which characters lived in each area but I was distracted half the time. I apologize for not paying better attention! Let me know in the comments if you recognize any of the Storybooks that I may have forgotten!

Alice in Wonderland

This was one of my favorite images taken. I’m such a sucker for all things miniature. One of my biggest guilty pleasures is watching people cook small meals in miniature kitchens.

Snow White

Frozen

The Little Mermaid

Pinocchio

I hope you enjoyed this little miniature adventure!

Yes I do! I used to make miniature furniture and clothes. Just pieces I never had a dollhouse or anything like that and I used to sell them on eBay. I worked at a mortuary and I had a lot of free time haha

Wow! Your full of surprises. I’d love to see anything miniature you might still have on hand!

Thanks for posting this @vermillionfox , it reminded me so much of a place I used to visit in Italy when I was little called Italia in Miniatura (Miniature Italy), I still remember to this day I awesome it was for a child to walk among the sized down Colosseum, Pisa Tower etc.
I look forward to visiting this place with my kids.

Oh, they’ll love it! Disneyland is such a magical place. I’ll have to remember to visit Miniature Italy if I ever travel there. :)

I did love such miniatures when I was a kid... I still do I guess. In the Netherlands they have a place called Madurodam and here in Denmark we have Legoland, but nothing beats the Germans when it comes to such things...

WOW! That miniature airport was so cool! It’s amazing...all of it! We’re planning a trip to Germany later this year, hopefully this place is still around.

It is! As far as I have heard it is a huge success. If you go to Hamburg in the north (close to Denmark where I live) you can see it. There is also a very fine art-museum in Hamburg where you can see the original Dürer engraving Melancholia among other things. It is one of my favourite prints.
