PLACES TO GO IN CYPRUS

GİRNE
The famous seaside town of Girne Castle and its harbor, Girne is the most favorite place in Cyprus. The city is the Greek name Kyrenia.

Girne Castle and Sunken Ship Museum: The castle on the coast of Girne presents one of Cyprus' most beautiful landscapes with its lima dominance. The results of the surveys in and around the castle date back to the Hellenistic Roman period. However, it is not certain exactly when it was done. According to the existing remains, the fortress was defended by Byzantines to protect Girne against Arab raids on Cyprus. century.

The Submerged Ship was first surfaced in 1965 as a result of work carried out between 1968 and 1969 by researchers of this submerged Pennsylvania University, which was found three meters deep in the water by a sponge hunter. The ship which was exhibited in the Shipwreck Museum at Girne Castle was made of Aleppo camphor with a length of 15 meters. About 400 amphoras on board were Rhodos, probably Rhodos wine. The abundant amount of carbonized almonds found at the same time in the wreck indicate that the crew formed an important nutrient. It is accepted that this ship, which has loaded goods from Rhodos from the West, is sinking while it is about to cross the Kyrenia last time it is probably carrying towards the east. Girne Yacht Harbor: Surrounded by cafes and restaurants around the harbor, it is a pretty and small place. But the harbor, please eat your dinner here. Hee is not only delicious and good quality food.

Bellapais Monastery: Built on a rock on the edge of the Five Finger Mountains, the present name of the monastery was derived from French "Abbaye de la Paix" (peace monastery). Known as a masterpiece of gothic art and the most beautiful of the Near East, the first inhabitants of the monastery became the Augustinian sect priests who emigrated to Cyprus when Saladin Ayyubi captured Jerusalem in 1187. The first building of the monastery building is from 1198-1205.

After passing through the island Ottoman dominance, the building was given to the Greek Orthodox Church.

St. Hillarion Castle: As it is in some residential areas of the island, it was built in the VII century BC to protect it from Arab raids. It is one of three mountain ranges in Cyprus. The others are Buffavento and Kantara. Although it is not believable to us, we wanted to write to you. It's a source of inspiration for Walt Disney's famous "Sleeping Beauty" fairy tale.

Blue Kiosk: The famous mysterious house in the village of Çamlıbel in Girne is the Blue Pavilion. The pavilion was built in 1957 by the Italian Ruler Paulo Paolides. A total of two chambers with kata. There are six rooms on the two floors. As you can see the architectural features of east and west in the mansion, Greek, Turkish and Italian architecture do not run out of sight.

The Italian-born Greek Cypriot Paulo Paolides is the main professional lawyer, but he is an arms dealer. The main function of your mansion is to distribute weapons from here. If you visit the mansion anyway, you will realize that there is a point where no one outside can see it.

Having to flee to Italy after the 1974 peace campaign, Paulo Paolides went out to the British neighborhood and was easier to escape, thanks to a secret tunnel he built himself while escaping. The blue milk pond in the blue kiosk must be seen. Again, special tables and works by Paulo Paolides.

Between 1963 and 1974, the Turks suffered very serious problems. Of course, during this process Paulo Paolides led a life of pleasure in a wonderful mansion with milk bag thanks to arms smuggling. Now this house welcomes the visit that is under the auspices of the Turkish Armed Forces in the name of being a traitor.

LOCATIONS TO LEARN IN NICOSIA

The city of Nicosia is located 24 km from Ercan Airport in the Greek Cypriot part of Northern Cyprus. So it's at the border. The greatest feature of Nicosia is the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot part of the capital. What does that mean? Nicosia is the capital of both countries. The world's only divided capital! Nicosia, the island's largest city, is the economic, political and cultural center of Northern Cyprus.

Great Inn : One of the most important Turkish works in Nicosia is the Great Han. Han was built in 1572 by the governor of the Ottoman Governor Beylerbeyi Muzaffer Pasa. In general there is a main gate of the caravansarays but there is a plus entrance unlike the Great Han. We do not know if there is going to Kozahan in the city of Bursa, but as soon as we see the Great Han our mind came to Kozahan. The Great Han, which has almost the same architecture, is one of the most ideal and peaceful places to sit in the courtyard for tea and coffee break.

Selimiye Mosque (St. Sophia Cathedral): Gothic architecture is the largest worship place of Cyprus. In the important churches in Cyprus, Luzinian kings made a coronation ceremony. St. The Sophia Cathedral was one of them.

After the Genoese in 1373, the Mamluks plundered in 1426 and the earthquake struck the building and caused serious damage. When the cathedral Venetians repaired a part of the earthquakes that occurred in 1491, the grave of the former Luzinian king Hugh II was revealed. There was a gold crown at the beginning of the corpse, which was in an undisturbed state, and objects and documents were found under it. The cathedral is an example of medieval architecture built by French architects and masters.

Barbarism Museum: This is the day you will see the traces of the massacre that took place on December 24, 1963. It is the place where the Greek people attacked with guns and the people in the house were brutally killed and the museum built on it. The news of reporters in the area after the attack is like this.

Daily Express: In the last 5 days tonight we entered the quaint Turkish neighborhood of Nicosia, where 200-300 people were brutally murdered. As western journalists entering here, we have seen terrible scenes that are impossible to tell. Such terrible horror was seen in the face of people beyond the tears, and in a state of uncontrolled and joyful smile, more terrifying than tears. "Rene Mac Coll and Daniel Megaechie"

The Times: President Makarios's yesterday's statement was horribly irresponsible. In the first statement of Makarios England, Warranty between Greece and Turkey and it stated that it had decided to terminate the Alliance agreement. In the second call, he declared that he turned this decision into a declaration of intention. Even this diluted form turned the environment into a powder gun barrel.

Le Figaro: I saw three little boys and their mothers who were murdered because a father was a Turkish officer

On this living savagery, the hand guns Turks entered the queue to become mujahideen. The night of 1963 was attacked not just this house but many times. And today these days have passed as "Bloody Christmas".

Salamis Ruins:
The city of Salamis The end of the Bronze Age immigrations started in Anatolia and was established by the tribes and Akalar who came here. The person believed to be the mythological founder of the city is Tefkros, the son of Telomon, the king of Salamis, who is a hero of Troy. After the Assyrian domination of 707 BC, the administration of the island passed by the king of Salamis Evelthon, according to the socrates repressed in 560 BC. In 499 BC, the dominance of Persia in Cyprus was mentioned. Even if the Athenians tried to lower Persian dominance they did not succeed. After that, new administrators became Phoenicians. With the Phoenicians coming to power, they started to decline in many subjects, especially in commerce. In 411 BC, Evagoras, one of the members of the Tefkros family, seized the kingdom of Salamis. On top of that the island is besieged by Persians and Evagoras is condemned to pay taxes. These events continue in this way until the Alexander period. After Alexander's death, the city's dominance has constantly changed hands. And finally in 294 BC the island reached the island with the capture of the Kingdom of Ptolemy. After this date, Salamis became the chief city. Salamis continued to be the chief city during the Roman period. Most of the excavations at Salamis, which were made after the end of the excavations, belong to the Roman period.
