I found myself in the Island of Siargao, Philippines.
We all have loved and lost. At age 25, last year, I lost myself after my first heartbreak. I mistook bullets for fireworks. And life was no longer what it seemed. After a month of being holed up in a corner, my bestfriend invited me to go to Siargao with her. How could I say no? It was a one way ticket to keep my sanity intact. And it was the best decision I've ever made.
Love at first sight. I never believed in the idea before but yes, I fell in love the moment I laid my eyes on the island.
On our first day, we stayed in a beautiful little cottage located at General Luna. It has a separate kitchen where you can cook your own meal, which is cheaper for us than buying foods sold outside.
The place is really nice and cozy. There are no wifi or televesions around which is actually the best part for us because we were able to talk and bond without any distractions.
On the second day, we went island hopping on different islands. One of the islands have restaurants were you can buy fresh sea foods and fruits.
On the third day, we woke up early at five in the morning and went to this amazing place called Magpupungko, an hour drive from our cottage/hut. The water there is crystal clear and there are pools made of rocks which are naturally formed. In order to witness and experience swimming in the pools, you have check (ahead of time) when or what time the tide is low.
And on our last day, we tried surfing. It was my first time but it was okay because you can have your own surfing instructor. He will teach you all the basics and stuffs.
I feel ecstatic! After a few (or maybe a lot) of fall downs, I made it!
After surfing, we had lunch and I got this TATTOO. All I could think about that time was ''my mom's going to kill me after this''
SALAMAT KARAJAW SIARGAO!!! I forgot all pain and worries I felt because of this paradise. It is indeed a home away from home.
This is my first time to write. Please write a comment if you have any questions, suggestions or grammar corrections. Thanks.
